Excited to check this out. Leaving bright and early in the AM to hopefully score this "Effie". 56F100. An unmolested body, A little cowl rust, but really solid overall. New MII front. 292 Y-Block...3spd, original interior etc. Seems like a real nice truck

Shameless plug for a convertible for sale too..

LUCKY DOG!!! I like it too. Only thing I'd add is a set of white walls. Leave that Y-Block in.

Well, I brought it home. It was a long day (~550-600 Miles RT). I left at 6:30 Am, picked up Dad on the way down and then my Uncle. Met the guy at about Noon, did the deal and also brought home a pickup load of parts for the truck (original suspension, column, rear springs, new body patches, 8" rear, and a bunch of other stuff. )
The damn 292 runs really really nice, truck jumps out of second every once in a while, Darts around a bit (Toe??). Had to stop part way back and make a headlight harness as he never drove it at night.
The underpinnings are really nice. Painted chassis, Kit front end, Kit parallel leaf rear, Corvette master cylinder. The wheels are Wheel Vintiques with new caps etc.
No major changes a planned, just some rust repair, and reliability stuff.

  16. F-100s are fun. I built a 53 a few years back and I borrowed my buddy's 56 to drive to BTT50s in 2004 or so...great trucks

Parts chaser...Somethin' to haul yard waste...Maybe flat tow a drag car to the HAMB Drags someday...

I'd like to make it a big-window, put in a 8" or 9" rear. Three 2's would be cool.

Always have liked F-100's with Moon discs and scallops. The white truck is killer.

Nice! I love those effies. I had a 53 that I used for the same thing while building my 40 standard coupe. It was yeller, and the bugs loved it. But, the stance and overall look of your 56 is right on. Congrats on snagging it.

We're all supposed to think the big window looks better because they're rare, but the truth is the small window cab is WAY better looking...Congrats on a kewl truck.

According to Mid-fifty F100 Parts Catalog there were 127,000 F100 trucks built in 56 and 6700 were big window cabs. The fact there are so many 56 trucks still around after 50 yrs. says something about people liking them enough to want to keep them on the road.

I like the wheels and tires. Would you post the sizes of front and back wheels and tires?

P225 70's on the front and P275 60's on the rear. I was actually thinking of a shorter tire on the front but these are matched Firestone "indianapolis 500 specials" with the Indy winged logo. Kinda neat.

Oh and the wheels are 15 X 6"or 7" front and 8" rear.
