I know it's not traditional but I want to replace the Corvair frontend with a Mustang IFS in my 41 Ford panel. I'm looking for a complete unit with air bags and before you bag on me the panel will be hauling my traditional wheels up g***er. I've been looking at all the makers of these but unsure which one I should go with.
There are several makers of these and I'd like to know if any install easier or if any are better than others. The prices I've found went from $1300 to $2400 and I'd hate to buy a piece of ****. Just looking for someone with some knowledge on these to steer me in the right direction.
Then you'll want to talk to our alliance vendors. They can cut you a deal and answer any questions you might have.
I have used and installed two of these made by this guy. The kits are usually half the price of most. Good quality stuff. Give them a call. Kenny’s Rod and Custom. 4750 State Route 5. Newton Falls, OH 44444. (330) 872-1932
Why do you want to use an aftermarket set up...full fender car your gonna put in the weeds, I would use a stock set up....oh, I have a couple for sale too
I recall reading about a crossmember out there that uses a variety of Mopar suspension pieces, sounds a lot more substantial than that wimpy Ford stuff, which seems critical if you are going to tow with it. Anyone know who offers that?
I met a guy that had it, but can't remember the company's name at the moment. It had torsion bars on the front. used mostly Volare parts I think. He had it on a '49 F-1. I think the same comapany offered a dakota set-up as well.
Found it.. Gibbons fibergl*** cars makes them http://www.gibbonfibergl***.com/trucks/torsion_kit1.asp
My brother is selling his Mustang IFS. Hit him up. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2320838#post2320838
Hope Gibbons makes better suspension parts than they do gl*** cars. Their cars need more work than a rusted out original tin.
if your a good fabricator and your frame rails are not more than 28" wide a stock unit will go in. the thing about stock units is you can adjust the ride height by the amount your trim from the crossmember there by getting a low ride with out dropped spindles.the stock must 11,s are very strong i have about 4 in stock and most still have the orginal ball joints and rotors.i have never had one with a spindle chewed up from bad brgs.
