Someone (who is not into cars) told me he saw a magazine that I might be interested in called; Hometown Hot Rod. He thought I may of already had it, so he did not buy it. I saw something on the internet, but it said website under construction...anyone else hear of it, or have it? I went to the bookstore and it was out. So I don't know anything else about it.
yes it is a good mag it is new you can email the guy at punk@hometownhotrod.com he will get one to you
I saw some guy selling it at the Rebel Run but didn't get a copy. He was taking subscriptions but I've been burnt before on new mags and didn't have tthe cash to drop.
He's totaly legit. I sent away last month for a copy, and got it back speedy quick. Pretty damn good rag. I met the guy at Billetproof. He's just into the cars, and tired of nothing from the Midwest ever making ink. So, he dumped his savings into supporting us rust-belter's. I'm definetly getting a subcription. Gotta help the lil' guy...which, isn't that what this is all about? Helpin' each other out, doing what we love?
John Nolan is a very nice guy!!!!! He is from Fort wayne and has been pouring his heart into this mag. I like it!!! He told me he signed a contract with the local barnes and nobles and boarders. so watch for it!!! He shot our car a few months ago and was going to put it in the first issue, then I found out that we were going to be in Kustoms Illustrated and I let him know right away. so I think were supposed to be in the next issue. He travels all over the place, so be on the lookout. If you want to contact him here is his email addy punk@hometownhotrod.com I can't wait to see the coverage he was planning from the pileup!! He has a lot of cool ideas. Get signed you now!!!! LOL Its my understanding that he is focusing on the Hometown built type hot rods and kustoms!! and stuff with history.
just saw it in Borders this weekend. didnt look like they sold much there was alot of copys on the shelf.
heres the cover for num 2!!!i think its goin to really take off...great mag! num 2 is already better then one! thats a great sign!
Singed up at the Rebel Run in Lima,Ohio. Mag was at my door the next month just like he said. The second mag is better then the first, I got the first issue at a rod show in Avon In. Talked with him at the Indy Swap two weeks ago, super nice guy.
John is a great guy! The mag is also very good. It's nice to have a magazine dedicated to the "no coast" crowd. My club puts on a show called the Bomb Run here in St. Louis. John contacted me and asked if he could set up a booth at our show this past September. I said sure of course, who knew anyone outside St. Louis had heard of our little show?! Anywho, our show is held at my dad and I's place called Chuck-A-Burger (see link below) I talked a long while with John about the club and Chuck-A-Burger, I told him this location was closing at the end of the year. He said he wanted to do an article on it and the club. Sooooooo, check out this months issue for the article on the restaraunt, and a future story on the Bomb Run. Thanks to John! One of the nicest guys I've met. The magazine is great for being put together by him and his wife in their living room.
I have talked with hime through e mail a few times but never actually met him. Seems like a real nice guy. I have liked both issues so far. You have to remember it is a new magazine so it may take some time to fully get ramped up and get out there. It seems that he is all over the place getting the word out. He daes hace a MySpace page as well. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cf...&MyToken=7d0319aa-d1e3-4572-bb19-298e753e7482
Just Emailed him. I like to get in on the ground floor if something looks like it's going to take off. Here's wishing him the best on the venture, time for some fresh blood in the magazine world. Frank
I don't think you will be disappointed Frank I just love talking to him he is such a nice guy!!!! and BUSY!!!! The following is a quote from the email I got from him the other day, it may help those of you looking for the Magazine. "I have signed a contract with Source Interlink which supplies magazines to Borders, Barnes, and about 2000 other places. As of right now the magazine is in Borders stores all over the Midwest, it is in the two Barnes and Noble stores in town and their corporate office in NY is deciding if they want more, and a few other stores are looking hard at it. " Congratulations to one heck of a guy on his so far success!!!!
