God doesnt care where you are for Easter.
(they just pick a date out of thin air for the celebration anyway)

Denise, does this mean I get to see you twice in one year??:D
I'll probably drive up real early Saturday morning for the show.

I had planned on driving my car down. My wife says she does not care. I just dont know how my little girl will feel about it. I will give it some thought.

I do agree though, I believe they just pull the date out of thin air. It has been as late as April 22 before that I remember. How do they decide when it is?

  10. There is a KOA campground about 10 miles North right of of I-75, I am going to call them and check their rates, availability and willingness to put up with me.

True, but God is a lot more forgiving than my wife. I'm going to have to use up about 6 months of "Honey Do Points" to make this show...

    I hope it's worth it...

Any guesstimate of how big the show will be?

  12. Campers:
Fl State Parks do not allow pets or alcohol.

KOA Wildwood (a few exits South on 75 from Big's place) has Kamping Kabins, just bring, sheets, pillows, cooking utensils and personal items. Tent camping is allowed.

Bring family with you. Being together is what a holiday is REALLY all about anyway.

Here is how the date for easter is determined - moon phases. Pretty pagan if you ask me, but then again, it keeps the celebration true to its roots.

Heck, we may have to put on a Billetproof Easter Egg Hunt. :D

I've eaten many a Thanksgving dinner of crab legs in Daytona Beach. Crab legs for Easter sounds pretty appealing if you ask me.:D

The problem therein lies with the fact that the truck wont be disassembled until after the turkey run...I'm leaving it together long enough to do me and dads yearly pilgramage to the big D...you know, the whole father son trip tradition...kinda important to me, and alot important to my pop...as well as my son (you know 3 generations of guys doing what we do best....) I know I could get it done by march if I were to start now....but dont think I can get it done in the required amount of time to actually do the job right the first time....

At this point I'm sick of working on the pig...BUT if I do it, its getting done right, I may have to miss the inagural year and just visit.....

    sigh....

I am not sure my 6 year old daughter would enjoy the 14 hour drive in the hot rod. She is usaully good for a couple hours and then she needs to get out and run a while. I have eaten Easter dinner at a seafood place in Florida once before so it would not be a new idea for me. I guess I am just thinking about missing a Holiday at home. My wife is really understanding when it comes to this stuff since she likes it almost as much as I do, and I guess my daughter probably wont care much since I am really second best to the Bunny that day anyway. The good thing is I am off for Good Friday that week so that is one less vacation day I have to use.

    We'll see!

  20. Mine's the exact opposite - the only reason I will be with my folks on Easter is BECAUSE of this show... other than that I'd be stuck eatin' ham with probably Magnet or Hellfish. Thank heaven for Billetproof!

  21. I called the Ocala RV - Camp Resort today to get some info on camping. Here is the info...

They are located about 10 miles North of the Garlits museum, at the Fl-200 exit. They have 8 tent sites, 24.95 a night. Each has it's own water and electricity hook up. They only permit one tent per site and limit 6 people to a site. They also have some cabins. They were described as wooden tents. Nothing fancy, just 4 walls, a roof and a bed, A/C and heat. They have 7 of these at 55.95 a night. They have two buildings with bathrooms and showers, open 24 hours. Pets are allowed, typical campsite rules.. etc. pick up your trash, quiet time after 10 pm etc.

I didn't ask how flexible they would be on the number of tents per site of if they would allow any overflow to use a RV site to camp. I guess it depends on how many people show up and how empty the campsite is. She did say that she expected most of the "Snowbirds" should be gone by that weekend.

LOL! Last time i came down Rte.301 there were huge billboards announcing the speed traps in those shitty towns. Barney Fifes hiding all over  . The state should be embarassed to allow those cretins to hassle people. From the looks of the towns, they really need some dough. :D Anybody coming down 301, be forewarned. :) Mike

Starke, an approriately named town if ever there was one.

  25. Nobody has mentioned it, but there is a state prison at Starke, Old Sparky was used there.
