Sorry to hear that, most people (I myself) see an animal as part of the family. Sorry for you loss.

  10. Had to put a 3 year old pup down last winter. She had a tumor or some type of brain cancer. One of the hardest things I have ever had to do. She was there everyday while I was building my coupe, seemed to love hanging in the garage with me.
    Sorry to hear this.

  11. Matt, I'm sorry to hear that. I remember meeting her at your place a year or so back, and she was a damned good dog.
I know you spolied that dog, and gave her all the love she could stand, and now, she's resting easy.

  12. I share your grief man. I just lost my old garage cat three weeks ago. She was almost 15 and had been suffering from kidney disease. All I have left now is my old shop pup and she is 14. When we brought her home the old cat started mothering her and the two of them have hung out ever since. Cocoa, my dog keeps looking for the old cat in the garage where Ashley slept for the last 10 years. I just don't have the heart to look at getting another cat.

It's tuff...I know too well. I have several old dog collars I keep. All the good times are worth the trade off IMO.

It's been awhile since I've heard about the loss of a HAMB dog. It brings it right back home and the memories of the past pets I've had to put down. First it was Cockers, then Daschunds, and now Shi Tsu's. We've had three of the little critters and the last one ,Lizzy, is our "kid" since our real one's are gone and have families of their own. She's a little clown and right in the prime of her life. I know the time will slip away quickly but for now we intend to enjoy every day with her and try to convince ourselves she will be here forever.:)
I'm sorry for your loss, you'll know when it's time for a new "friend"

  23. Sorry to hear about your pooch:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I feel your greef. It'll get a little easier to deal with as time goes on. I put down my 9yr German Shepard 3 days before Christmas last year. It was one of the hardest things I've ever been through. I still see his eyes looking up at me from my lap while he drew his last breath.

Sorry for your loss. I've been there with our chocolate Lab female Belle. I cried like a baby digging her grave. I still think of her always. My current best friend is a black Lab Molly, we do everything together. I don't even want to think about losing her. It's too bad their lives are so short, even so its worth having them.

Matt, sorry to hear about your loss. I had to put my lab down 2 months ago with the same problem. Losing your dog is like losing a family member or worse. Take care, Keith

My condolenses, we had the loss of our lab of 13 years, which is like losing a member of the family. My wife is adamant not to get another pet because she doesn't want to go through that again. I'm slowly wearing her down because the benefits out-weight the loss.

I'm very sorry about your loss. I have worked in a veterinarian's office for 12 years and i see it every day and it is still so hard. We had to have our 16 year old husky/shepard put down a few years ago from cancer and it was horrible. We still miss her alot. Just remember that your dog is happy and young again.
