My bad for not following protocol from the start, but some of the locals were kind enough to point out my error.

I'm Taylor (waves) from Sunnyvale, CA (it's currently partly cloudy...damn false advertising!). I've just recently joined the HAMB after a friend of mine on a VW forum pointed me toward Whizzerick's Travel Decal thread in the Tech section here. I drive a 1967 VW Camper daily...it's a Riviera conversion done in the Pacific Northwest. I've been into old VWs since birth and have always admired old rods and muscle cars, too. When I was very young my folks would take me down to John's Graffiti Night along The Alameda in San Jose (a mere mile from where I grew up) and now it seems hot rod nights are happening at that same location again. [IMG] Anyway, I run a local VW bus club here in the South Bay and am pretty active in the local scene. Lately, I've started to explore more of the old school rod resources online and I would love to find myself a project someday (I think house and garage would have to happen first). I also teach high school English locally, but I won't get all grammar nazi online. [IMG] I think that's all the important stuff.

  3. Welcome! This is a great place. I've always secretly loved hot rodded and custom VW's. Just don't tell anyone. [IMG]

LOL...your secret is safe with me. I've seen some pretty wild VW-meets-old-school-rods built lately. I'll see if I can't post some pix or links soon.

Yup, take a camera to cruise night and show us the traditional stuff. We're happiest when we can tear others rides apart with the old "I would have done it this way".

Cool...I'll be in a blue hawaiian shirt...and if it gets chilly before about 5.30 or 6pm, I'll throw on my shop jacket with "Volkswagen" on the back.

I'm sure there are quite a few out there! It's definitely nice to see others in my profession into the kinds of things I dig. [IMG]

Welcome. I think you'll see a lot of rod/VW crossover these days... I've seen you on the Samba plenty. You've been there a while, but a newbie here... I'm the other way around, I'm a newbie at the Samba and LLVW (go by shipman), but been here awhile... [IMG]
