Will '63 F-100 backing plates work?

I've been doing lots of searching here and elsewhere for answers to the F-100 brake swap. The American Rodder Magazine article that has been posted here several times says that although the '57-'63 backing plates are different than the '53-'56 plates, they "may" work with modification. Can anyone tell me if they will work, and what the modifications would be?

This is for a '35 5W coupe. Have not bought the spindles yet, so I could use the '37-'48 spindles.

    Thanks for any help!
