Can anyone tell me if the brake drums from an early 50's F-1 are the same front and rear?

It's been about 18 years since I had those brakes on my truck. If I remember correctly the rears are narrower that the fronts, as are the brake shoes. Check this forum under the 48 to 60 area. Someone there should know for sure.

Thats time I checked you can swap them though. Just use the correct parts for rebuilding.

My rear drums won't fit on the front of my '48. The fronts are deeper than the rears. Hope this helps.

    They are different (deeper).

I have a few extra axle laying around that the fronts and rears are the same.. it seems that the later trucks are this way 51-52. but my 48's and my the other 49's and 50's that I parted out were all deeper in the front.

Thanks for the info. The brake stuff I got came off a 52, I think. I'll go back and check the rears to see if they measure out the same.
