  3. Radials are icky. But what about old circle track tires? How wide were they in '65? Anybody reproduce them?

You may not get too many responses, since this is NOT a "not-so-much-traditional" website. Tall/big=good...wide/big=not-so-good, unless they are cheater slicks.

Here is DW's car at DOTD. Please note that on the street he runs much narrower cheater slicks.

  11. I think it's '65 or older, the advent of the Musclecar. I don't think they had very wide tires until '69 or so, I am curious too.

I have never thought my car was very traditional. Just a regular ol' hot rod...

Please, stop trying to define tradition! How many times can it be done?

    Lighten up. Really, who cares?

Both D.W and FlamedAboned have awesome cars with wide tires. Believe me both of these cars need them. It can be done to look "Right"

Here's some pic's I took at the HAMB drags this year (Besides Nick's car)

    Nick32Vick's car:

DW's car with the "street tires" :p on it.

    Kerry's car.

Don't know the rest of these guys.

    Hey Kustom,

See...., I love this coupe and roadster's stance, they look awesome. Thats what I was looking for, maybe a little wider, but staring at this two ones I'll reconsider the 8" rims. They are close to perfect.

    Thanks !!

Hey, Mercjoe...that back 3/4 picture of the blue sedan with slicks on it posted above...that is the stance and tire combo you should do. That car is awesome. If you want to go wider in the back and keep it old-timey, I think that's the ticket.

Mercjoe, the cars that you picked have a heavy channel and a almost no rake stance.

If you like them that way then go for it!!!!

I personally like a rake like the blue vicky has too.

That car is channeled too but the rear fender wells have been moved up so the tires can be in the fenderwell not above it.

You are both right.., those 2 have a really flat stance, and the Sedan does really look awesome.

Actually I dont want such a channeling job (Im afraid about doing it but I guess there's no choice) I also want a rake stance but not that much !! I really cant picture how that fenderwell work would look on a roadster...

Take a look, I "think" my desired stance would be like this blue coupe's (picture below), of course instead a coupe that would be my 28 roadster.Little bit wider rear tires and Im done :)

Im open to any ideas though

    Thanks guys !!

No picture. You don't have to channel a car to get a rake. Moving the fenderwells upward would never work on a roaster or a coupe.

Ahha, I found the pic on the first page. I like that car. Someone built that on here and threw it on the Bay not to long a go. The axle looks like it sits a little to far back. See how it's not in the center of the wheel well? I think a roaster would look good with that stance.

    Any idea what size?

That's a beautiful car- I've left drool stains on the pics of it in Peter Vincent's books.

Oh yeah. Here's my contribution- Brandon's sedan, the Hot Heads Hemi, Tony Nancy's road-duster (a clone), and some other neat iron. :)

Yes, a Hamber (cant remember who built that coupe).

I think the frame was extended about 5 inches, body mounted more on the rear for letting room to the engine. Thats why axle's more on the back.

I know I dont have to channel the car for getting a rake but I do to get it lowered in the first place, then I'll look for the rake. Im I right ?

    Thanks K.

Ok that Tony Nancy roadster is freaking awesome. But I wont have a deuce ..., not even deuce rails. Just my A.

Are fenderwells on that car stock alike ? did deuces came with that opening for the wheels ? I guess not.

Are you going wide for looks or performance? You want wider than a 10in. Hurst or Radir? Abundant pics are on their sites and the "60s style" thread.
