Need Help with ID on Ford Motor

I have a motor that I am trying to ID and have conflicting info. Any help is appreciated here is the casting D40E 6015 BA X with a date code of 6G6. The casting could be D4DE but I'm not real sure as it looks to be D4OE Thank you John

 

should be a 1976 302.

 

I would think its a 1974. D meaning 1970s and 4 being 4 of 74. a c6 transmission was put into service first in 1966. Dan

 

yeah, the casting was first used in 74, but the date code of 6G6 indicates that block was cast on July 6 1976
