I too am in the process of reviving a 36 Chevy Pickup. What width front axle did you decide on, and how wide is your rear axle.

    Your proportions are spot on.

I will second that motion, and really... Who talks like that these days? "squares" Are you living in the 50's? Is that what it takes to fit in around here? I happen to like this truck it reminds me of mine. The reason people come to this site is because of the plethura of knowledge thrown around.
All the time I see jerks like this nocking other peoples hard work. Hey you don't have to like it, and it's okay to express your displeasure but for God's sake don't be a dick.

Heres my Rat...[IMG]Keep up the good work.

Shut up you spineless turd. It's amazing you'd say the above when you don't have the spine to back up that crappy attitude of yours....

    Sound familiar captain Greaser McCopout?

Here's something to chew on.... it's arguable that his truck is lame, but it's also arguable that it's cool. Know why? Because it's a matter of opinion.

I doubt, however, that you'll find anyone who will argue that your personality (or lack therof) doesn't suck.

I can just see you in your daily life as a contractor....

That's cause your uncles didn't write the rule book on hot rods back in the day.... that was done DECADES later by REAL hotrodders like zgears who weren't even a smear in the sheets back then.

Guys, thanks for your opinions, whatever they may be, but can we please leave the personal attacks out of THIS thread, or PM them to each other. Thats part of the reason I retired from powerlifting, because of all the internet tough guys talking shit.

Anywho, feel free to debate my truck however you want to. Love hate, think i should drop it in a crick bed, , feel free to chime in.

    >>Havent got the bed yet, as ive had my 2 bay garage stuffed recentyly with this truck, plus a model t coupe, plus a frame i wasnt happy with, plus washwer & dryer, welders, tools, barbie jeep, blah blah blah:eek: SO as soon as i can get er done, I'll bust off some pics of the bed.

Jeeter- this is a MAS 48" width, 4" drop axle with suicide setup.

Fergen- Yeah, Im having a blast, as this is the first thing Ive built from scratch. It a good feeling getting kudos from your friends on workmanship. It'll be even better when i can bust around town in It!!

well I'm building my third fenderless truck and I have enough stuff to build four more. I love'em and I do everyone different. Thats the fun of it. there is no rules. build what you like and I like the picture I"ve seen in this post. Keep up the good work. I think some one should start a new post show us your fenderless trucks. Maybe we will see one from back in the day.

Got any more pics? Id totally build something like that someday. It would be cool to have a hotrod type thing, but Im a Merc guy who is really only into kustoms so I would not care to dump a ton of money into a coupe or sedan.

    Nice truck.
Could you post pictures of the frame construction?
As for building a fenderless truck - with the cost of 28 - 30? coupe bodies building a traditional truck is a great idea. I have about $600 in a clean 1938 ford truck body and will be starting that project after my 54F100 custom build.
So keep up the good work and post pictures of the progress to keep us motivated.

i like your choice in rims and tires. i'm dig'n the suicide front.

    some constructive criticism:

i think the grill needs to come down a couple inches
might need a lil off the top
run some copper lines to clean up the rear

building your own shit is what it's all about, post some pics when she's done

For crying out loud, don't use copper for anything but ornamentation.
Steel line is what you need for the air supply line to the tail, then use your plastic lines to jump down to the AIRGIZMOS.

With all these rules nowadays, this whole culture is now more like "restoration and re-creation" than HOT ROD AND CUSTOM.

Yager, I like it, it reminds me of my pile of rust 40 chevy in the driveway begging to be finished, but a recent wedding has cut off the truck fund for a while... I like it alot, just do what you like and forget the haters or are they drapes? or squares? or whatever the proper name is in the unwriten hotrod rulebook

Zgears, this is from 1964, was started in 59, its not a post 36, but it think its still an extremely similar concept, its even kind of low too, bet it would have had airbags on it fi they were cheap and readily available back then...... "RichFox: This is my American Austin in 1964. Started it in around '59 when I was in high school. It's a pickup cab with a trunk from some unknown doner car brazed on. kind of an early day "Bobber" I wounder what some later cabs would look like if someone wanted to turn their pickup into a three window?"

Here's a couple more pictures of mine. I have a 10 bolt rear from a Camero. Running a 350/350. Wrecked metals (www.wreckedmetals.com) did my frame, 4" chop, and other stuff I was too scared to do. Let's face it, somethings are worth writing a check for... I don't know who Rudy was (though I'm sure he was a hell of a guy) I just like the look of these old trucks. Planning on shiny paint and carpet too. I have a lot more to do on a limited budget.

Once again-Supercool Bikertrash!! Love the profile of that. COuld you find out if they took 4" out of the front and back posts on your chop? Ive seen some that the side window really looks wedge shaped if they dont, but yours doesnt seem to.

What color you have in mind for yours? Im leaning towards light blue with thin black accent scallops. Somewhat like a "space truck" on crack:D

    One more thing>>

It looks like we got about the same ground clearance, what does the height of your drip rail measure out to? Really love the looks of that chop!!

Nice work. The frame looks well done. I have seen nice looking cars with crappy frames. Or a so called rat rod that's trailered to a show, and not even driven around the show cuase it's so far chopped, and so low to the ground. But everyone has there version of a rat rod. Just build a small bed behind the can. No one will notice the bags. It'll ride nice with them bags though. healthy looking motor
