I had heard earlier this summer that it was returning in 2009 by someone that lives down there and is kinda in the know. My figures are crossed this is true.

According to numerous sources, the National Hot Rod Reunion will be moving back to quaint Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, KY, from its one-time home at ADVERTISEMENT

National Trail Raceway near Columbus, although no one from the Museum will officially confirm the change. As in previous years the 2008 Reunion will take place on Father's Day weekend (June 13-15) and is part of the NHRA Museum's new Hot Rod Heritage Series.

Apparently attendees to the yearly nostalgia event preferred the historic racetrack, and many of the access problems causing the move from Bowling Green have now been resolved.

Honorees for the 2008 event will include drivers Arnie “the Farmer” Beswick, Gabby Bleeker, Jim Walther & Boogie Scott; and racing component pioneer Bob Stange of Strange Engineering. The Grand Marshal will be championship winning driver and tuner Dick LaHaie. [11/2/2007]

    so still a rumor....?

Go to good-guys.com and check there schedule for 2008. It states they are having an event on Oct. 17-18-19 called the Goodguys Nostalgia Nationals. This is what you are hearing about I think. Still should be good. Joe

"No Hot Rods Allowed" is under new management. The old corporation is completely dead. Anything is possible, as long as it makes money.

"No Hot Rods Allowed" is taking 2 weeks to pay-off racers now.

  12. I don't care where it is, I'm going. Although Oh is closer to me, I have no problem traveling to Ky

[IMG]COLUMBUS, Ohio - The dates have been set for the 2008 Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion, presented by SoffSeal. As in previous years, the Reunion will take place on Father's Day weekend, June 13-15, 2008.

I would love to see it back at Bowling Green, but this is from the NHRA site. By the way one of the honrees (Boogie Scott) is from Covington, La. and is one hell of a guy. Been building hot rods and race cars all his life. NHRA hall of fame and two hundred mph club!

I think everybody was talking about 2009, not 2008.

Goodguys added three new events for 08, Beach Bend, Norwalk and somewhere in the South if I remember correctly. Living here in the Columbus area, all my connections say that the NHRA HHR is here to stay. I would highly suspect that the rumor mill is referring to the Goodguys event, which obviously will bring money back into the Bowling Green area. I went all three days that it was here at the Trails last year and I thought it was fantastic.

I hope so meaning that it is going back to Beech Bend. Sure Columbus is closer, but I did not go this year, I would rather drive to Bowling Green. Every aspect of Bowling Green and Beech Bend was a positive one.
But from talking with friends that went, the way they talked it looked like it was going to be in Columbus for a long time.

A friend of mine was at bowling green on sunday drag racing, he said the anouncer said that the Hot Rod reunion was coming back to B.G. be there for the next 5 years, even though NHRA says its going to be in columbus, they even anounced that it was fathers day weekend not to confused with Goodguys in October, Something is up!

I talked to Tony Thacker personally. They are a two Contracts away from the event going back to Bowling Green. IT IS HAPPENING.

My source at Street Rodder Magazine also told me that they Blocked 80 ROOMS! for the road tour IN BOWLING GREEN.

    Thats petty good proof.

I too have heard from very reliable sources the 2008 HRR will be back in Ky and the official announcement will be made by the middle of December. I've questioned a friend who works for NHRA, He says he knows, but he ain't sayin nuthin!

The news I have heard is that NHRA is going back to BG. This was revealed AFTER Goodguys signed the deal with the facility. In my personal opinion it's pretty uncool of the track to do this, but the show must go on.

  23. I can see your point. GG has the better date for weather in my opinion. Personally, I'll be going to both. And if I had to choose, I'd probably go for October.

I respectfully disagree. Leaving home from anywhere north of Bowling Green at the end of Oct is a crapshoot. Mid June on the other hand is normally nice and balmy if not down right warm.

Also, lot of folks have spent large $$ through out the summer and by the time Oct comes around they are tapped out and worn out. Happens in my world at least.

The two shows are spread so far apart in the lineup that I really don't think it matters if there is one or two cool events held there each year.

Unfortunatley the Saturday of the GG Bowling Green show is the date of a pretty popular HAMBer's wedding that I know lots will be/have been invited to. Guys that have been to quite a few of the HRR events and would more then likely attend the GG event as well. There's always 2009 I guess:D

    Damn, how'd you know? It's totally a conspiracy. :D

My point was directed at the track who had to have known NHRA was coming back. Goodguys' intention was to revive the interest in the location with the absence of NHRA. I know a bunch of people felt like they were left high and dry when NHRA left.

It's not horrible, just a little shady.

My opinion, the town politico's made an offer that the No Hot Rods Allowed Sicilians couldn't refuse, and since the Don Wally "Vito" Parks croaked, there's no opposition to leaving the home of the AFL (of CIO fame) capital. They're mostly Italian gangsters there anyway...

    Film at 11...
