unique performance police bust

1. If you've ever REALLY looked at the cars they had on display you would have to ask yourself,"Who,intheir right mind would WASTE their money on one of these POS cars that this company is building?"The fit, finish and overall quality put into these cars is/was atrocious.A business can screw people to a point before it bites them in the ass. This is a long overdue ass biting.

Mostly because the people who can afford it CANT build it so they buy one sight unseen and they dont know what real quality work/car looks like.
I dont rember the show it was on but they had UP on it and the guy they kept showing was this big dude with a bigger cigar with a VERY untrustworthy look on his face.

I think Joe Average WASN'T a customer looking at the prices they were charging. His house wasn't on the line in this deal, if you know what I mean. $24k was probably about 1/3 their loss if the 1/2+1/4 thing really applied. I wonder how many of the customers are BMW/Lexus drivers who want to go back to their 30th/40th high school reunions in a car that they were too nerdy to have to begin with but can now afford a sweet one.

I'm not saying they deserved it but I think Foose, Shelby and the customer should have had a better handle on who they were having build 'their' car.

I doubt they got a HAMB Alliance discount!!

Unique Performance has been a complete rip-off shop from the very beginning. The cars they display at shows are nice, but it's like when you go to Wataburger....whats in the bag doesn't come CLOSE to the picture on the menu.

They hired our painter away from us, offered him better hours and a lot more money, an offer he really couldn't refuse. They were apparently hiring a lot of new employees just before their open house. I guess to make themselves look busy. One week after their open house, they fired everyone. Really fucked over a bunch of people.

One of their customers who actually did get a car delivered to him didn't make it down the block in the thing and it died. Wouldn't re-start, nothing worked. He brought the car back, "ok, we'll fix it." It's been months....

Our painter that got laid off informed us of how they build cars. Stuff a rag behind the hole and bondo it. Areas of literally 1" thick filler. They don't have body men, they have sculptors. Everything they do is cracker-jack work and I wouldn't drive ANYTHING that comes out of that shop, it would probably fall apart on the highway and I'd end up dead.

It doesn't surprise me at all that they have stolen cars. They deserve every bit of whats coming to them.

That sucks. This kind of stuff really drags down the performance industry. Unfortunately, you really have to do your homework. Word of mouth is the best advertising.

Someone here in town bought a GT500E a couple of years ago from Unique, he paid $182,000 for it. I could not believe the crap that they threw together. I am a Mustang guy, so I checked out all the vital areas. The car had new front and rear floorpans, but the old pans were merely cut out with a torch, and the new pans were thrown in and welded. The slag and dinglerries from the torch were left in place, and some undercoating was shot over the whole mess. The front fender aprons inside the engine compartment were damaged sometime in the car's former life, and that is the way they were left in the car's new life. The car was a factory "S" code 390 car so it came with a 9" rear end, and that rear end never came out of the car for cleaning or detailing. The new disc brakes were bolted onto that crusty housing, and the old steel brake line was used as were the old U-bolts.

aside from all thieving and whatever other shady business, i never understood who in the right mind would pay all this cash for some done over car or bike that still has all kinds of old ass technology. im all for low tech, old school and low buck, but when you pay over a hundred grand for a car with nice body and paint and some mildly upgraded stock suspension and a carb that will need to be fucked with every now and then just like any of our cars it just doesnt make sense. i almost feel bad for the rich bastards out there that are getting hosed.

I think this sucks for Shelby himself to have BS like this to deal with in his latter years. I guess this is a picture of the "NEW" American way. Screw as many as possible take the money and run. Without any concern for the lives you affect or ruin. Selfish Greedy Assholes that is all you can say about these guys.

Note price on that POS !!

I had two friends that worked there for past year or so ..
They knew after starting it was a mess but, they rode it out because they kept telling them it would get better

They were more or less, over paid ..
Never recieved the last pay check

Police did come seize everything two weeks ago ..they sold a car with wrong vin # but, don't think anything was stolen

Just a another dumb mistake

They had a lot off of denton drive and royal. It was full of Fastback shells.
I'll have to go by there and see if they are all gone. It was fenced off real well and it was hard to see what was behind the fence. I first noticed it when UP was first starting to get going. Later found out that it was owned by them.

12. Wouldnt be the first time Foose got tied up with a crook. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

They displayed up here during the Rally for a couple years, I got a bad vibe just by walking by them..........steered clear.

Not surprised........this type of shit has already happened in the custom motorcycle biz starting last year.

Big names, big money & BIG RIP-OFFS!

Sad to see folks getting beat by more carnival people.

What a shame.

All I will say is KARMA.

their actual shop is off of senlac and disterbution (sp) in farmers branch. they were right down the street from where i work, and a co- worker of mine had a friend by the name of berry who worked there. he called us the summer of 2006 to see the challenger. and it was a nice car, but im sure they spent all the time to get it right before they started to cut corners on the other ones. they also had a car on the dyno that they wouldnt let me see. clamed to be a cuda. but i didnt get to catch a look.[IMG]

Woof, squinting hard not to see the wheels, that car doesn't even sit right. Looks like they all did after 10k miles when the stock detroit leaf springs sagged. That's why everyone ran air shocks back then...

You really have to look after your parents!

When they want to cash in their IRA to buy ANYTHING, you need to have them committed, or have them put everything into a trust fund, with you as the administrator. Expenses plus $100 a week is all they need :p Get them a live-in sex partner for a couple of days a month.

There is no car that is made in Texas, that would be worth anything over $15k.

Dang, it sounds like John Hennessey was running the place; or maybe Fred Englehart.

Here's the thing to remeber, too-these were not poor people dropping this kind of coin on a car like this. These were people in the top 15-20% percent of the country. They could wire $200K to you and not miss a meal. How much do you think they would be willing to spend on lawyers if you screwed them? They would still have enough to hire some GREAT lawyers and make the company's owners lives HELL.

This is how rumors get started and lets get some facts before any thing all you have is hear say and trust me as soon as we get some facts ill let you guys know all i know from my end is im owed wages and 401k money that was never put in to my account> and thats a FACT o and yes there was 40+ cars over off of walnut hill for unique performace just to answer that question( o and it would BE nice to get my tools back but that does not seem like it is going to happen any time soon

That's a shame:

"Many of the cars could be worthless because the vehicle identification number has been removed. Steal plates with illegitimate numbers covered up the scratched areas."

This sucks on a handful of levels...

1) all the people who got fucked out of their money

2) all those rare legitimate fastback mustangs WILL all be crushed - i very seriously doubt that with the VIN tampering that Unique has done, that the state would do anything but dispose of those shells completely.

3) this is going to be one more bullet in the states gun to make it that much more difficult to title an old car in this state.

Sooo, you are defending a shady company that screwed you out of your wages and your tools ? hmmm maybe I missed something...

Like the news said " cars are now worthless "

Feds are involved and I bet it is more then just VIN tag issues

30. Time for some soul searching there brother.............
