Hey guys, I'm a newer poster here, but I've been lurking around gaining a ton of info. I know a bunch of guys on the board but meeting new people can't hurt either. I'm building a '35 pickup for about 5-6 months now (first hot rod I've built) and want to get it on the road before it's too cold out, hopefully it'll happen! I've built my fair share of cars in my day so far, some of which have even been magazine cars, but this is my first hot rod and the fact I'm 21 I hope I'm doing alright so far! I thought I'd post some pics of what I'm building and our shop we just got up and running. I was working in a 1 car garage before this, so this much space is scary for me now! Our shop just happens to be in a metal fabrication plant my buddy's family owns, so we have all the metal we need to our dispose (God send here!) Anyway, here is our stuff!

Rolling chassis I built in my old little 1 car garage.

Don't mind the no front wheels, I'm waiting to get my Buick drums back from the machine shop. The '48 drums are just for bleeding the brakes.

Numbers matching '67 Corvette 327/340 with 4spd, got it for a steal! Also a Dago drop front axle.

    Try to be organized

Millermatic 350P, I LOVE this machine

'38 waiting to be built, also my bed for my truck waiting to go on

'33 car grill for the pickup

Soap box cars from way back, my friend got them at a garage sale a while back, still fly too!

350 waiting to go in a '52 Dodge sled we're doing, more on that later.

AND FINALLY, a few plant pictures, not shown are the 2 HUGE shears, Cincinnati hydraulic brake presses, Strippit machines, lathes, drill presses, paint booth, etc... It's great to have a facility like this

Great place, keep that diamond plate crap away from hotrods though. It's like a fungus.

You can't have a numbers matching Corvette engine without it being in a Corvette, know what I mean, Vern?

Yea, that diamond plate isn't going anywhere near anything we build, I HATE that crap.

I know what ya mean engine wise, I just meant all the date coding matched, the guy had no idea what it was, just wanted to get rid of it.

Wow. It was hard to focus on your build and not on the place you are in and the material/tools you have around you. LUCKY! ;)
Ok. It's November. You are in Ohio. You have a lot to do on the truck. You are hoping to get it done before it gets "too cold out"?
Son... you better get wrenchin' on that thing! ;)
DON'T RUSH! Do it right and do it safe!!!
Looks like a fun ride. Keep us posted.

  6. I like your truck.

  7. Looks like you are making good progress,,,but I have to ask,,

I notice you notched the frame for the front spring but it appears in the photo that the frame is still touching the spring,,

Is it a mono spring and it doesn't have the spacers added yet? HRP

Not only do I like your trucks...I really love your photographic skills. I'd love to learn how to take pictures like these that communicate the feelings that we all get in a cool garage. I'm sure it takes years of training and experimentation but your pictures are so cool. I'm sure it wasn't by accident so I wanted to compliment you on them.

I'm constantly amazed by the talent on this board and in the hot rod life in general. It's guys like you that are keeping craftsmanship alive during the current "dark ages" of outsourcing and billet, off-the-shelf assembled cars. 21 years-old?? You have a lot of talent and are the future of hot rodding - don't let it die !

Thanks for all the great feedback guys!

langy - rear spring is a '40 Ford

Gizmo - yea, I know I'm just excited, I know I have a lot left to do, I'm in no hurry, well trying not to be!

Hotrodprimer - I need to put my leaves back in, I just was using the single spring for mockup then notched the frame, it'll come back up after I get my drums and wheels back on.

067chevy - wheelbase is 110", pretty short, the steering box is an early 80's Ranger, it's cowl steering, I'll get some better pics of it today when I'm over there as well as my frame in the cab, there's a lot I left out.

tommy - I go to school for photography and graphic design as well, I use a Canon 20D SLR camera and set the white balance to get the old photo feel and the yellowish tint, thanks for the compliments!

TagMan - I jsut turned 21 in June, I have been building cars since I was 14 and have been in the garage all my life, it's a passion of mine that will NEVER die, I'm in it for life!

Hi everyone, this is my first post on HAMB, I work with Minewithnoshine, thats my 38 pickup in the post, and i just want to say that all these encouragement really means alto to me. We both used to be into imports and its a really nice change to have people give you compliments and constructive criticism instead of just telling you that what you are doing is wrong.

I'm digging your truck, BIG TIME!

  18. This post just makes me feel - happy, warm & fuzzy. Nice build, keep up the superb work. There just can't be any good feelings about imports and them tuner cars,... it is just about like so much excessive high school drama.

Looks like a nice truck, I was wondering about the rear spring perches. Thery look like they might flex a lot. I see that you have the trianguilated gusset on the axle but where the spring is to the perch is just quarter inch plate. Looks like it would twist and flex.??

Welcome to the board!! As others have said, it is great to see younger guys with traditional leanings. What a dream facility to be able to build in. And your photo work is super cool.Winter to get that baby road ready for spring cruising. Best Regards from Omaha!!
