SWEET - we couldn't have planned that any better. Swap Meet & Drags, same weekend, same neighborhood.
    COOL.

Is this a 1/4 or 1/8 mile track then?

Yes, it's 1/8 mile. Very nice facility, paved pits, consessions, big restrooms, and we can separate spectator parking (non-participants) from the participants.
There are a lot of folks excited about this event, that haven't even posted on here.
    It's gonna rock.
    Thanks - BigKen

Tex, don't take it wrong. It is very hard to keep people competetive and still retain the vintage look etc.

I love em all, the only thing is that I am afraid if a bunch of serious guys show up that race every weekend, it may scare off some of the guys that are just learning.

Dang, same weekend as Decatur, I may hafta spend the whole weekend down there.

seems thats the difference between race cars and street cars. ya race to win, ya drive to show off and have fun... is it a race or a show???? and there are not too many serious racers with that year bracket racer left anyway...

We've got that covered. Arm restraints are the only additional safety equipment required, and that will only be required for 'open-cars'. They will be provided for those that need them, and don't already have them.
Helmets required for the 'fast' cars, as at the HAMB Drags and Day of the Drags.
    Thanks -

Knowbody i know have arm restraints. Are they just for looks or do they have to be tied to a roll bar. If you are talking actuall arm restraints then they have to tied to a roll bar, they are above and beyond the 6 point

Maybe we can get a spec sheet for requirements so we can make sure we got our bases covered

    Driveshaft loop?
    seatbelts?
    Fuel shut off?
    helmets?

The arm restraints loop under your seat belts and strap to your wrist and thats it... very simple and will work with any lap belt. Helmets are required for any car running faster than 8.99 in the 1/8. I'm sure we will also have helmets to loan out if anyone needs one and i plan to have arm restraint for ANYONE needing them.

This event is gonna be for everyone...racers, showers and spectaters. If ya wont to race, then race but we are going to have a section for cars to park and just show off if they dont want to race. Then you can also just walk thru pits, check out vendors.

The main theme here is to have a gathering and enjoy other people with same interest. If this event doesn't appeal to you then i'm not sure your a car guy anyway.

Hope that explains things a bit. Any other questions or comments let me know.

    Thanks

Tech and cl*** information will be forthcoming. Won't be a lot different from the other HAMB related drag event.
    Thanks - BigKen

There must be 500 cacklefest cars built by now. Maybe get one to show up and hose everyone down with nitro. Although it might be pretty cold for nitro then.

If UPS gets done playing with my bearings, maybe I'll have the baby hemi running by then...

Sounds like fun, and we'll break all the rules so they have to earn their track money trying to corral the animals!

The reason for the surge in cool drag racing events is the fact that they are "new guy" friendly. The guys putting them on are not seriuous racers, but guys that love to have a good time racing their buddies.

I am just saying keep this in mind, don't flood the event with a bunch of bracket racers wanting to impress everyone with their skills......

Sorry to hijack your thread Ken.

I vote (not that it counts) no handicap. Heads-up.

Most just want the timing slips for the glove box anyway.

I can cruise up for that event. If it's only an 1/8th, I should be able to coast off the track if my beater breaks after the first few feet.

Not that my opinion matters either, but it would sure be more fun if you tried to match up cars in the cl***es where they would have more side by side races. Most of my matches at the DOTD and the Hamb drags were either way slower or way faster than me (most were way faster than me).I am not tring to start nothin here its just an idea to make it more interesting.I know it doesnt always work out to where its an even match ,but it could happen more often with some planing...

It don't have to be real fast. It's worth the money just to run down the track a time or two. I'm gonna try again with the Merc. I got the nerve to run down the track at Temple and then broke a dang axle. If they didn't break, we'd all get bored!!
