and make sure the engine is in tip top shape BEFORE you spray it. Make sure the plugs are new... the wires are good without cracks. Hell, spring for a new cap and rotor. You might not know it on horsepower but once you spray it problems that werent there sometimes become apparent.

Nitrous makes good motors great and not so great motors dead...

Lighten up buddy. I wasn't doing a direct comparison to your car to a late model stang....only the ET's I've seen them run. For the folks nit-picking my comments on 5.0 car running 12's I'm talking about the lighter late 80's early 90's coupes that'll are set up to race but have stock long blocks (I probably mis-spoke on the "stock" part.....not the heavy pigs they built from '94 and up. The whole point of my response was that with some suspension tuning I think you should be able to pick up 1/2 second without having to go to nitrous....especially since you said you were traction limited. Slicks and drag shocks (one set of each shouldn't run more than a nitrous kit) can be installed at the track (we did it all the time). If you optimize gearing, play with weight at the back of the car, play with shock adjustments and get a set of sticky DOT's or slicks you should be able to get another 1/2 second off your time with minimal or any changes to the engine. By reading through your other posts it sounds like your limited on what you can do to the suspension anyway. Until you get well above the 100mph mark wind resistance is the least of your worries....keep the nose high for kool factor.

My comment on nitrous was just poking some fun....if it works for you run it....but real gassers didn't run it and don't run it.....5.0 Mustang and Camaro guys run it. If you can make the car run what you want it to without Nitrous thats what I would do....just my opinion.

I didn't read all the responses.....but in regards to the push button VS micro switch deal......it's best to run BOTH.
The micro switch is wired in series with the button....that way the button will only send power to the solenoid relay once the micro switch is tripped (full throttle)....the micro switch is basically a safety deal so ya don't accidentally hit the button and send raw nitrous into an idling or non-running engine....

And yeah.....I ran nitrous ALOT during my street racing days......

Okay guys , big thanks for the tips on the NOS and i think i am gunna go for it.If i woulda planned on building a street /strip car i woulda never straight axled this thing ,but i love the look and the attention it gets every where i go.I know traditional gassers didnt run spray ,but they werent usaully used as daily drivers either .When i built this car for fun to drive and show i never intended to use it for serious dragin on the strip but i got the bug so i am stuck with the staight axle handicaps / rigid front end now.Its very frustrating trying to make this thing fast but still drive it as my only car rain or shine. If i made it a dedicated drag car i would already be in the 12's ,but i want both plus dependabilty in any conditions as my daily as well.I figure with a small shot on it i can have my cake and eat it to.Everything on the ignition is new and top notch MSD ,ACCEL ,Mallory etc.so i hope it works out.If it dont then a 351 windsor with my current aluminum heads is next.Part of the reason i am leaning towards the spray is cuz it has always fasinated me and i would like to expierence the ponys at the push of a button for my self .Is that a crime?
