I am rewiring my 49 plymouth. Took out the dash yesterday and decided to clean up my guages. I have an extra set so i am thinking about painting the faces and having someone pinstrip the letters and number back on them. Not sure what style yet.

Would like to see pics of guage faces that have cool lettering or numbers. Or maybe you have done this same thing well lets see it.

    Thanks
    matt

I think most folks here just use the original gauges even if they are a little worn down or they get newer old gauges. Sorry. It would be interesting to see what you're talking about though.

Here's the plan. Take the gauges apart. Repaint the faces... then have a sign painter or pinstriper paint the numbers and letters back on with their own flair. Thinking about giving the gaugs a hot rod poster look from the 50's follow me???? Will post pics when done.

Somewhere in here I saw a pic of a speedometer that had some graphics. Right around 70MPH it had dollar signs and above that it had stuff like 'Sorry officer', etc. It looked like something bought off-t******lf.

Other than that I've just seen some really nice original faces on the gauges here.

My girl has a Gumby cartoon decal on the face of her motorcycle's speedometer. Not sure why. I've learned to let her do her thing and don't ask too many questions. Life is easier for me that way.

I meant no disrespect. He did such a good job on that gauge that it looks store-bought!

Well, not custom painted, and letters aren't anything special, but here are some unique art deco SW gauges. I'm turning the clock in to a tach.

A good idea is to watch Ebay with this search:
    (193*, 194*, 195*) speedo*
in Parts and Accessories until you find a style/font that you like. You'll get a ton of neat options.
