I had two of these but lost one. I really like the style. they don't stick out as far as the Shannon cones. Any idea who made them and if I can still get them????? Clark
clark, they look a bit like english ford pilot. do they fit into a wide five wheel and are they chromed steel or stainless steel. ford pilot caps are stainless. Al.
I believe those are accessory caps made by National in the 40's... same place that did the two piece flippers. I had one, but gave it away as a trophy damnit.
you can still get those....Cole put some on the 56 Nomad he did for Henry in the last year or two....I'll see if I can call Cole or Henry and find out
I don't think these are old accessories. They're sorta just cheap caps. Wheelkid....they fit your average ordinary cheap chrome smothie....nothing special. I can measure one tomorrow. Primerdave...that would help a lot. Clark
Somebodies make'n them. I'm sure I've seen those @ our local swapmeet. I seem to remember the quality on the ones I saw was not great. But if I remember right they were cheap!
The one you have seems to be some sort of home made thing but looks very similar to "Sled" Hubcaps sold by Jeff Stallings of Wheels of Steel. Give him a call at 559-627-2703. Got any better pictures of yours? Like the underside? Jimmy
Wheelkid...Here's the back. It's definately a production peice. Does wheels of steel have a website? I need 2 sets if I can find them. Clark
I just came across your need for the cap. I have been running a set on my '51 Chevy Fastback for several years; I have other caps, but this is my favorite look for the chrome smoothie wheels that I run. The caps were given to me several years ago by a buddy when he sold his early Chevy. He originally bought them from Moon Equipment, and they were called "California Sled" caps. Moon has not made these since the mid-90s as near as I can find out. Attached is a better shot of my Fastback than my avatar. Augie
