    As Mac The Yankee best put it, no urination contests, OK?

    Here is a verbatim quote from;
    Special Interest Autos Magazine.
    This magazine is from Hemmings Motor News, isn't it?

    This is what David Biggs possibly had in his fabulous collection besides the Ferrar's and Alfa's, does anybody know anything about these other cars that the Magazine Nationally published?

    QUOTE FROM ARTICLE;
    ""Finally, In the early sixties, a longtime friend, from the Sports Car Club of America, David Biggs, was setting up a small Museum on his estate north of St. Louis, and asked Harris to display the Streamliner. In 1964 lightning struck the Museum building, and the entire collection, INCLUDING Biggs Le Mans Bugatti, a blown Alfa and a Mercedes went up in flames.""

    I'm not sure which Mercedes, as Family told me a (? Racing)Gullwing Mercedes was there, other sources talk about a SSK racing Mercedes, yet other sources say that it was a one off bodied 540K that ended up going to Michigan.

    Biggs collection, was in all probability, second to none in the 60's, the Insurance company, I know, paid through their nose.

    Can anybody help straighten up what was truly there besides the Ferrari's, Alfa's and Harris car?

    Bugatti's, other rare race cars, midgets?

    The Administration has pictures of the car, I do beleive that Ryan is in Administration.

    I have requested that pictures be posted of the car "before" the traggic events at Biggs Estate, I'm absolutly no gooood at posting.

    Due to cir***stances, beyond any control, but yet explained in deatil to administration , pictures of the car being removed from Biggs Estate can not be displayed at this time.

    If you want to tear me apart, thats your choice.

    Sorry, this is getting too dramatic for me- if there were legal implications to posting the pics, WHY EVEN BRING THEM UP IN THE FIRST PLACE?

    I can appreciate what you are trying to do with putting a book together, but at this point, most people seem to be feeling either used or had. It might have worked out better for you if you had taken smaller steps than jump in and create this mess for yourself.

    Sorry to dredge up this old (but fascinating) post, but I couldn't help but think of my dad when I read this post. He's always saying this about Baldwin-Motion cars. He get seriously pissed off every time anyone mentions Joel Rosen and his authentication program.

    0286AM was never really "buried" as folklore goes. It was in a shipping container for quite a long time -- but was surrounded with redwood chips. (Which actually caused more problems them good with the aluminum due to galvanic corrosion and rust to the steel framework) I was part of the restoration team that got this Ferrari back on the racetrack and to Pebble Beach. More details here on my personal website --> http://marksavory.com/0286am/index.html

    Here are pics as when still at Brero's:

    Apparently this guy has not been back.
    I have searched, followed and read more about the fascinating car he brought forth here almost 4 years ago, guess it is quite real.
    He did finally post pictures of what it looks like now on Autopuzzles.com

    This story seems to be incomplete with more fascinating topics arising about the futuristic car and its maker, BF Harris III.

    I found it interesting that he has kept busy in do***enting the car and now has several sites it is located in with combined hits of about 11,000.
    It appears in Hemmings blogs and a host of other sites also.

    Apparently he was involved as the "other" noted on ESPN broadcasts regarding historical work on the Tucker Convertible.
    From his writing I determined that he and his partner picked up their deposit and voided the contract with the sellor.

    Guess one never knows until the fat lady comes on stage to sing, further guess there may be more before she finishes her song.

    I thought everyone might enjoy this chaps story in closing this topic.
    Seems he was shooting everyone straight at the time.

    I read through enough of this to realize this guy is a real DOUCHE anyway. Might have been interesting if the owner was a decent person. I'd rather spend my time looking at REAL Hot Rods anyway.

  17. this is a very interesting thread...
    I have been told that a car is a restoration if you have the original frame.
    I have been trying to find out what happened to Frank Lockharts Blackhawk after it had been dug up from the sand where it crashed. (after 50+ years). I do know the engine was used in at least 5 cars and is now in a museum.
    Brad54.....my point as well......I inspected a 69 Camaro that the engine and trans numbers had been altered to claim it was a factory 396 car.
    I remember back in the late 70's and early 80's the junkyards (now slavage yards) were full of HP cars from the 60's. Now they are gone...."restored" and now are at the auctions with wild claims that either they were a survivor or were "saved " from being crushed.

    Regarding the topic of resurrected race cars, the 1906 Zust that completed the Great Race of 1908 was found in a shed in Dawson City, Yukon in the early 60s. It is thought that it made it up there sometime around 1910 by an executive of a mining operation whose parent company had been a sponsor of the race. At some point it was stripped down and the engine was used to power a light plant, the rear section of the ch***is used as a the basis of a wagon.
    My pal got the pieces in 1980, the ch***is and cowl was pretty much all there was to start with. By 2008, with the help of his brother, they had completed the restoration in time for the 100th celebration of the race.

    More info on the car is at this link. There are only about a half dozen ZUST automobiles known to exist worldwide, and this is the oldest surviving example, and arguably the most significant.
