Hehehe. I tried, but they won't go away. I know for the nostalgia nats at Tulsa, it was no electronics. They disqualified a few people for running a trans brake.
Does all of this mean that I may be able to bring our 9 second 63 Galaxie for some timed runs?....and race anyone on a handicap? May be able to put it on an easy 6.40 or so for the 1/8th mile..will know after this weekend if it survives Houston. It's red with a texas flag flying ...and a bit of the Confederate battle flag under that.....and the race is in Texas. Stick shift, no electronics.........all motor, no nitrous, no blower and only 474 cubes in a 3350 pound car. Mark
they are missin out if it isnt allowed . That is a great crowd pleaser and just plain cool race car.. we will wantk you guys at our nostalgia race if we get it goin still in the planning stages at tvrp in noble next yr
It killed nostalgia dragsters too. That **** at CHRR isn't nostalgic, and the stuff that is, they won't let them run. Those idiots running in the 5's are no different than the idiots running 4's. But here's the deal: if that's what killed drag racing, then Bracket Racing hasn't done anything to bring it back. It's still dead. What to do. Hey how about a no bucks Day of the Drags. People aren't going to invest thousands just to be a winner in this forum. It's people who just want to have fun. 1 second cl***es sounds like just the ticket (unless you're the only one). Make the top prize less than $20, and give all the participants a sticker or a back scratcher, or a hula doll, or **** give them an ice s****er and some sun lotion. Keep it small so the testosterone ****-heads don't show up and ruin it with their computers, nitrous, and stolen parts.
I agree with you also and if they would put me in a cl*** at these events where i could compete i would leave the NOS off (im just trying to have a chance in eleminations against cars with stroker motors and radical cams).I dont think a car with street tires should ever have to race a car with slicks .Even though i can out shift most of them that i have seen ...
dragrcr50............Not sure of any plans for next season yet, but we are hoping to get the AWB 65 Comet done. Pulling the Comet body off and replacing it with Richard's 65 Falcon body and will stretch the nose around 12/14 inches, similar to the old "Kansas Badman" car from the 60s............We have been trying to find lower quarterpanels for the Comet for 2 years now...not avaliable unless in a donor car that is simply worth more whole. This will give our group 4 AWB cars that should be ready by mid spring.........could be quite a sight with them racing together.........Shades of the past!!! Hard at work here on another 65 Dodge from Missouri that will run in F/X, AWB with injected/alky Hemi power. Mark
as a suggestion go to TMCCC.org. click on rules. I have race in this event for over 15 years there is no money. JUST FUN!
Most tracks have the cross talk feature on the tree. It adjusts the lights for starting. Like spoting car lengths ,slower cars get the green light first. But you have to have a side window to write your time on.
Man, I'd love to see that car. Just remember, this is for fun, and not for purses......but it's a Pre-'64, and fits the time-period.
Here's a pic from Houston last year. BTW they are making models of this car and should be ready by the race if anyone wants to purchase one autographed at the track.
Funny thing about the diecast being made of our 63 Galaxie...It will be from SunStar and in 1/18th scale...a big one..When the guy called and inquired about doing the model, I was overwhelmed. After talking to him for a while, getting set to send pictures and details, I was thinking..."now we have hit the big time" ..I thought that we were being recognised from our racing accomplishments...lol........when I asked why he chose our car.........he said..."for the interesting decoration"...oh well, we will darn sure take it........for the paint job or winning races. We recieved the "mule" for our approval and to make any changes, a stock car with all of the interior/engine work done and it is dead on....carbs, fuel reg/lines, vac pump, hoses all correct.....guages, switch panel, seats all right..even the small springs on the wheelie bars...we have sent them over 400 shots of the car in close detail...have pics of the stock model done up in our paint scheme and it is awesome...detail down to the last little decal and even the small names on the car can be read. Lead work is being done in Florida and the production is in China, of course. Should be ready for the Christmas season...they have offered us a pretty good deal and after speaking with **** Brannen about his deal with them for a model of his old Galaxie, we took it. Supposed to get 250 models free and a "long" deal for more if we want. Some model magazines are already posting pre order pics and prices, but the manufacturer realised that this Galaxie has been modified to the extent that it will be one of thier Premium deals...early pricing seems to be in the $39.00 range, but I think it will be more like $69.00 when finished. So far we have orders for over a hundred and many more have asked for us to just tell them where and when to send money. As far as we know, this is the FIRST NSS car ever done in diecast. Will try to add a win to the column in Houston this weekend at the Lonestar Nationals........anyone down that way, be sure to stop by on Saturday eve. for some of our GenuineTexasThunderRoadkillChili............Dan says it is guaranteed to have 98% of the hair, gr***, rocks and dirt removed. Mark
remember fun event.........walk up to a guy with a car you think is close in speed, stick out your hand and introduce yourself, ask him if he wants to race, both get in your cars and head to the start line. You've just made a new friend and had some fun doing so. Walk up to another guy and do the same thing repeat as many times as you please. keep it simple so everyone can play and feel comfortable
Window for index?.......shoe polish it on the tire or door....you ain't getting away that easy......or put it on yer helmet... ..and Denise...you wanna run that "Big Olds" ? Mark
I have sweetie, about a couple dozens times over the last 5 or 6 years. I didn't at Day of the Drags because I didn't want to put anyone out if I broke something. I HAD to be back on the plane on Sunday which might have left someone else fixing him for me. Now, if that question is a "challenge", you bet I do. Meet me at the HAMB Drags '08 and I'd be thrilled to run you heads up.
hopefully ill have somethin cool to come up there in, that's my home track , lookin forward to meeting some of you guys
I managed to run the Raunchero down the Denton track last night and it seemed real smooth with good traction. Also the people that run the place and the owner are real friendly and the track and pits are kept up well.I spent my clutch there (actually i think i spent it in Temple last month ) but still had a blast ,the atmosphere there is great . I think this is gunna be a great event...
I just wanted to say the CSGA loves to run with the Texas Outsiders. It dosen't feel like a old time drag race with out them. There cars are period and they show up for a race, just remember when all the g***er cl***es were going on superstocks were right in that era too. More people raced Dodge, Plymouth, Ford, Chevy factory cars than there were g***ers raceing. Drove em to the drag strip, raced them and drove em home. My old 37 runs 10.70's and I can't run with a lot of these cars. I for one hope you guys can come to this race. Thanks, Fred
Just back from the LoneStar Nats in Houston..........a total fiasco for us........just about the time we had our problems figured out, the line lock hung up and we nearly tagged the wall..........thinking about completely stripping the car, engine and trans.........rebuild the entire thing...it's been out there racing for over 10 seasons now and systems are showing thier age........If we do, the entire car will be re done, including the frame...will try to take another 200 or so pounds out.......... M.
