Hello. I found a '34 Lincoln sedan with a V-12 in a garage near my house. Been there for quite a few years but looks to be very solid and complete minus the hood ornament that was stolen by some vandal. Not sure if it will run or if the motor is froze. What do you think it's worth? The owner is open to offers but I don't want to low ball him and make him mad either. No pics to post but I appreciate your insight. CTJ
In my 2 year old price guide a #6 parts car, the cheapest sedan is $2100. #5 price, restoreable is over $6000... It really depends on the wheelbase and exact model. 9 models in 136" WB, and 20 in 145" wheelbase.. The price guide is just that... a guide. It is not gospel..it will get you in the neighborhood of a price. I'd ask the guy for a price. When they say to make them an offer, tell him you are afraid to insult him. He'll come up with one.
I never make offers. I always say "I'd sure like to buy that from you if I thought I could afford it".
That's funny? That's the name of a new pilot about to be pitched... Coming soon....What's it Worth? A really cool appraisal show for the average joe... Show is being edited right now! DV
just ask the owner what kinda price would be fair to HIM, when he replys with a price, ask him to meet you half way tward the price you want to pay.it works for me all the time.
Barnfinds Roadshow? It's probably worth all of $5000 - it is a '34 Lincoln in decent shape, those don't grow on trees exactly - but it is a 4dr, too. After about 2 weeks you'll be sick of hearing people call it a gangster car. Who knows, it might be worth even more depending on the model and exact condition. Sounds like a good car to buy and turn over on eBay or in Hemmings, maybe see if you can free the motor up and clean and detail it and you can turn it into some hot rod money in a hurry.
if he doesnt know, shoot low.. if he looks sour, than tell him that he should have thought of a price... i say throw a thousand on the table.. in all twenties, it makes it seem like alot of money... or a briefcase of ones.. you pick
In 1934 Lincoln made numerous (at least 7) sedans with a V12. They had a short wheelbase 136" K series or a normal Lincoln with a 145" wb. In the most current issue of the Old Car Price Guide there really isn't any Lincoln sedan in #6 condition (barn find parts car) worth less than $3K. Lincolns like that are worth gold to restoratin concours guys. I would suggest buying it for the best price you could get and then selling it to fund a really cool hot rod. A friend once had a really rare 33 Lincoln with an Aluminum body he was going to rod. Once he really started looking at it close it would have been soooo hard. The size of those cars is utterly unbelievable. If you find out what model it is, post it on here. I could give you a better idea of what it is worth then. You should be able to find a serial number on the right side of the cowl, the top of the clutch housing and/or the transmission case. If you decide you don't want it, let me know. Good luck!
Chevygirl- Thanks for all of the facts about the Lincoln. I'm thinking that buying it to resell and make some money is what I will do. If I can get a serial number I will post it on here. Thanks again for the info. CTJ
Tell him your grandaddy shot a tommy gun out the back of one of these during Prohibition--then throw 1000 $1 dollar bills in his face and ask him where the ***le is. He won't know what hit him and you and your gangster car will be on your way.
