Here we go, I would like to share some of my favorite pics. The first set I took on mothers day at the Old Shasta Art festival. First pic, the woman on the right is my wife's 3rd cousin. The deuce belongs to a friend, he's in his eighties and got the car in '46. Charlie was just there, and the other 2 are old camping displays. I took these with the late '20's Brownie 2A model C.
Next is some pics I took at Antioch BP. Some of you might have seen me with multiple cameras. One pic is my friend Mike and his son, another is my friend Byron. These were taken with a Savoy.
Thats pretty cool man, I didnt think they made film for those old camera boxes yet... I got my grandpas. Its been collecting dust for the last oh, 30 40 years?
I took thousands of pictures with an early 60's (?) Lordox 35MM. fully manual and probably not a piece of plastic in it anywhere, it was built like a swiss watch. no zoom, no nothing. I only knew how to set it to take pictures on sunny days. got my Canon EOS 650 and now it is vintage..... I also have a camera from my grandfather.. has like a bellows and unfolds. I think it takes a giant sized negative... I've never tried it. you have inspired me I'll have to dig it up and see if I can take a picture with it!!
love that SAVOY camera. Uses 620 film. I still have mine..go9t it with S & H greenstamps. It is for display only now. Very cool pics though !
Awesome pics...My fiance and I just got a house and it has probably close to 100 -150 antique and vintage cameras....Brownie Model 2s up to 35mm and polaroids...Where do you get the film for the Brownies?
These pics look as is they were taken about 40 or fifty years ago...except for the people wearing up to date clothing the rims and backgrounds...details. Very cool.
Are you using 120 or 220 film in the box camera, or something else? Just curious... I have a pile of old cameras, and would like to try them out... Ben
Kodak still makes plenty of medium format film in both print and slide formats. They also still make sheet film and 6X7 roll film so break out those old cameras and see what you can do with them.
so do you ever use color film in these vintage cameras? if so - does the color lose a bit? just curious
All my box cameras are roll film, there is only 120 and 220 left and I use 120. The Savoy is neat, all my 620 cameras I can use. 620 is 120 on a different roll, so I just reroll it in the dark. The Brownie 2a I made spacers to fit the 120 in, it used 116 before. I plan on trying 25mm in a 127 camera soon. Brownie info http://www.brownie-camera.com/ plate camera info http://www.freestylephoto.biz/e_main.php Film http://www.centralcamera.com/Film/ or http://www.filmforcl***ics.com/ I do however buy my film from the local shop, but they stopped in house development and send it out (2 week turn around). Color film can look vintage too.
Awesome, that's what I was wondering. I do my own development, and have been shooting with a h***y and yashica's for several years, but wasn't able to find film for my empire or my 1890 ansco. Thanks! Ben
