I think the board may have made an impact, it's up by .9% with 1870 votes.

It's doubtful that a county will be willing to put money into it, but it's a shot. The only way I have seen it done is to incorporate it into a safety measure, tying it in with a local police task force to keep folks from racing on the streets.

I'd say few reasons

1) Hot Rodders in general do a poor job of promoting a positive
image ..1 idiot spins his(or her) tires or goes flying by someone ruins the works of 100's to change that image .

2) If you read some of the comments , people have their own axe to grind ..In other words, not against the drag strip..just prefer money spent in the way that benefits them most .

Pull up the story, read some comments about wasting fuel, etc
They could not be a more uninformed group
the local race community needs to do something about that
and , wherever you are ..I bet the view is close to the same
except maybe .. Indy ?
