I've purchased a cab for a tall T pickup and I'm picking it up this Sunday. If I have a chance to pickup an engine block to get a usable VIN number. Can anyone tell me what engine numbers would've been used for ealy to mid 20's Fords? Thank you for everyones' help. JNKPRTZ PS Can someone tell me what years of T pickups used cabs like what is on Ebay right now (item #290178133132). It's just like mine.
All T engines have the engine number stamped above the water inlet on the block (on the opposite side from the intake/exhaust). There are no frame numbers.
Numbers were sequential production numbers. Depending on year it was prob in the 13 million range. There is a breakdown online, I found the link on Fordbarn.
The TT Closed Cab was introduced in 1925 only on the 1-ton ch***is and continued through 1927 virtually unchanged. The front sheet metal and fenders remained the 23-25 style as did the on the firewall coil box. The windows in the doors were changed from pull-strap to conventional window regulators.
I'd have to "hit the books" to say this for certain, but I think that is a '26-'27 cab. I don't think that the earlier cabs had the door on the top of the cowl. Other than that (and maybe minor differences), I think that all the T truck cabs were the same. If yours is a '26-27, then it would have had a number (that matches the engine number) stamped on the driver's side frame rail, begining December 1925. Note that this cab is actually a TT (big truck) cab. Best that I recall, these enclosed cabs were never used on the T frame.
Thank you for everyone’s’ input. I’m asking about the VIN because I may be able to find an old engine block to grab a number off of and I just want to make sure I get a number that kind of matches the cab. I think I had spotted the frame to the truck. It looked like a T frame (I’m no expert) except with deeper frame rails.
Sounds right for a TT frame. It should have a 124" wheelbase. It is a good frame to use under a mildly powered hot rod (up to maybe 350 hp unboxed, but with a K-member added?).
That is exactly what I needed to know. Thank you T-Time. If its OK, Ill drop you a line after I find a number off the frame. Maybe you could tell me what I have.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> Thanks again.<o></o>
