    Rods are marked "99":

Shouldn't there be a cleanout hole through the rod journals??:

Other than these pics, all I know is it's bored 60 over.

    Any help is appreciated.

No additional help with the I.D. That one looks exceptionally clean inside. Was it like this when you got it? I know you said you hosed it off, but damn, all the ones i have seen inside are heavily sludged.

The lack of cleanout plugs means that crank
uses "full floating" bearings (only two rod bearings per rod journal)

The water pump pullies are custom made.
New distributor cover and you might just have a "keeper!"

Thanks for the article, that's a keeper!

Anyone know what the 99 on the rods mean??????

The bearings are full floating, I pulled a rod cap.

Why would it need a new timing cover??? Don't like old chrome?!?!!! I think the pullys need to go!

yes it was that clean... just covered in dust.

The first picture looks like a piece of the timing cover is missing. (the picture isn't Hi Res by the time it gets posted)

My 1945 truck had a Model 99T (239 cid) flathead in it. I believe that the 99 would be for '41 - '45 engines.

The "99" series engines according to Vern Tardell are a bit "tougher" than the regular engines. (thicker walls) He is always on the search for these engines to run in his Bonneville racer.

"99" is the prefix number for 1939 introduced 3 3/16 bore flathead, used in Merc and big trucks, rods used with that number 1939-41. The block with 59 was used 1946-48 on all Ford lines. The 99 rods are virtually identical to the 29A rods used originally on this--they're just a substitution made by a rebuilder. You have a nice pile of stuff there.

Nice score with the adjustable lifters. I actually LIKE those pulleys from what I can see. Interested at all in getting rid of them?
