here are a few pics of my friends streetrods that he lost to the wildfires out here in CA a few weeks back:(
he had a prostreet fibergl*** willys coupe that was allmost done but not insured or registered yet. it was a total lose.
and he also lost his 40 dodge COE that I built about 5 years ago and he bought from me.
so I suggest that everyone check your insurance and your covarege and make sure that have enough to protect yourself in case of a disaster. Ron..

the last picture is whats left of the willys....

here is a link to some more pics:

Yup, Miguel of the Shifters c.c. had stashes of cars located in places through out San Diego. Ramona, San Marco, Alpine, etc. Another proof that that guy brings bad luck. That's EVERYWHERE the fires hit!

Just kidding. Miguel is a super fricken cool dude. He does have a black cloud following him around though.

If this is the same Miguel that I'm thinking of, he is a cool guy for sure, but I believe he is with the Lifters c.c. rather than the Shifters c.c.

And so it begins...the tragedy unfolds as the losses of the victims reach out and touch their friends and family in their hobbies and avocations.
So sad that so much mere stuff had to be lost but it is nothing when compared to the human loss.

I have a problem with this. There sits a flat bed truck and a car melted. Load the car on the truck put the birds in the car and the cats in the truck and get the f$%k out of there.

OK let me explain, first the COE is not a car hauler, the bed is only 11 ft long and it is built on a 1/2 ton ch***is so the willys would not fit on it anyways.
second my friend Don was in the hospital when the fires came through and his wife only had a few minutes to gather up 1 cat and 3 birds and get out of there. trust me if there was any way that the house or car could have been saved they would have , its not worth risking your life to save property. this fire came through very fast with 50-60 mph winds.
this was very sad for all who were affected by these fires...

Those California wild fires move as fast as 60 mph and more. Sometimes, the people don't have but a few minutes to get out. In those types of situations you have to make some serious choices FAST. You save the wife, kids, pets and important papers and get the hell out. Some people were at work and didn't even have time to save anything. Best thing to do is have an emergency plan so you don't waste time trying to figure out what to do.

kiotes, You have no ****ing idea what your talking about, some of those fires where traveling 60 mph with the wind, when it comes right down to it you need to save your family and yourself ! It's not as easy as you make it out to be !

I'm sorry for this guys loss !

  17. Sorry to hear about all the loss.

Just hope that all are ok (I mean outside of the hospital) But I also hope that the tumors get sorted out, too.

    Best, MRAK

A buddy of mine told me about his friend that lost 2 Model Ts, a Cord (!), a fresh Eddie Meyer prepped Flathead and other cars. 8 or so cars were parked in a custom garage under his house. The house burned and fell in onto the collection.

One of the Model Ts was purchased from his grandfather for $25.

    tragedy.

It's defiantly sad to hear of these losses. And I'm sure there are more out there.

Back when we experienced the big fires around Kelona BC, (Canada) several rodders lost everything; cars, houses, including their cameras and computers, so we didn't hear about their disasters until much later.

They suffered the same way; with tinder dry forests and the fire storms - winds changing direction - that came roaring down the sides of the mountains, leaving people just seconds to gather family and get out of the way.
    Some didn't make it.

SanDiegoJoe, I will be in San Diego in a couple of weeks. Did any of the fire(s) get anywhere near the cruise ship docks??

You dont have to tell us in South Dakota how fast wild fires can travel. A fire creates its own wind, which in turns makes it faster and makes more wind. The Black Hills have several fires like that a year, some are natural and some are from ***holes starting them, its just a way of life here. We just dont get the press for two weeks like the California fire. I was only making a observation of what was in the picture. I wasnt out to make anyone mad and i hope the fellow is doing fine.
If im not mistaken South Dakota sent some of our fire fighting planes to help with your disaster... Its to bad that so much stuff was lost.

The other thing to keep in mind is that many people got word to evacuate while they were at work and didn't get to go back to their houses.

  24. I survived the Cedar fire of 2003 in Escondido... lemme tell you, when you see a fire crowning in the eucalyptus trees, 75 feet overhead, traveling at 55-60 mph, your car collection will be of secondary importance.
Shame about the COE, I used to see it every Friday on Grand Ave. in Escondido...
My brother in law got the reverse 911 call, and had all of 4 or 5 minutes to pack up and get out...and there were Sheriffs there to make sure he heeded the call....he was lucky, the '57 T Bird, the '36 Ford truck, the King Midget, and the "R" code '64 Galaxy all made it through, but more importantly, so did his wife, his kids, his animals, and his house.
