Got my first car today it's a 1950 Dodge Wayfarer Deluxe and i can't wait to start wrenching on it. If any of you guys have any tips or suggestions on what i should do to it fell free to let me go. The motor currently doesn't run but i am planing to do a complete overhaul on the inline 6 and I'm going to keep it non of this v8 swap stuff for me. Well i hope to have some progress pictures in a mouth so to show you all but for now here of some when we went to pick it up cheers.

nice ride. save that 6 or go find another runner. I know around here they are a plenty and can be had pretty cheap.

Lots of torque in those motors.

You need to get with Blue Skies ( I think) who build the cool brown more door.

I say drive it around a while before you do anything. I'm not a Sun visor fan so that's the only thing I would lose right off the bat. It would be cool to go custom with it and section the body and maybe chop the roof. Drive it around for a while. You'll figure out what you want to do.

Love seeing the young guys getting this stuff. Still affordable. Will have a ton of fun. Some friends will ridecule you but TS. Keep focused on it even when you become discouraged. You can always put it on a back burner when you think about selling. Then get it back out and work/play some more after that urge p***es. Wish I still had my 67 442. My first car.

Hard to tell without a direct profile shot, but that looks to me like a Plymouth Concord with a Dodge front end on it. That's based on what I can see of the profile of the car and the dash board.

Doesn't matter alot, either way. I reckon they're about the same car, mechanically, and I prefer the lines of the fast-back Plymouth over the Dodge anyways.

I'll come back and post a link or two for you, for some forums that "specialize" in these cars.

I have been eying one of those down here same color as well. Id nose deck , remove the side trim pieces , drop the rear end, add a set of spider caps and trim rings . After I went into the brakes , checked running gear and wiring. good looking different car , pay no attention to the naysayers of these Mopars!

Canada may have had some different body styles, but in the U.S., that's a Plymouth with a Dodge front end. The Dodge has a slight hump in the rear, slanted b-pillars and square guages. How do I know? I have one. Even so, it's a cool car and I hope you have fun with it. You'll always have the only one at a cruise.

Very cool and rare body style! These cars are built like tanks. My suggestion would be to take care of all safety items and get the engine running decent then do a 12V conversion which is not that difficult but essential as these engines can be hard to start as they turn over so slowly. Besides, you will likely want some 12V items like a radio/cd etc. Get yourself some catalogs, I recommend Speedway hich has a simple guide to 12V conversion. The booklet costs about $10. and is excellent. I like the sun visor. It gives the car a sinister look. Anyway, do your car up the way you like it and have fun.

  22. good score. think about it............3'lowered in front. flat black john deere the car, bumpers and grill, some fatties on back, skinnies up front, powdercoat the wheels, do some flames. Hell, it sounds like my '41 Poncho. Do the basics and run it, runit, run it!

thanks for the links i will look through them more later looks like some great info so far.

No roof chop I'm pretty tall and then windows on the side are already pretty small as well a few of my friends thought it had been chopped already and the sun visor is staying it's worth pretty big bucks and looks kool i think at least.

Great first car--get it clean, get it safe, and get in it!

One piece of advice: Start modifications/upgrades with a plan/list of things you can/want to do, and then work your way down the list. One mistake I made on my first car was to tear into everything at once (of course, it needed everything), which made finishing up daunting.
