Ok Folks, Heres my very first build, 1950 Buick Super, Original 263 Straight 8 and Dynaflow. Yep, I even kept the 6 Volt Wiring. I dont think i did too bad, for a freakin newbie. I think at this point, I'll let you experienced guys fill me in. This little girl purrs like a kitten. Ive rebuilt the front end, all new exhaust, and thanks to some good folks responding to my post this morning about a noisy lifter, im back on the road again. Thanks Folks! Here is the Link to see the pictures of it! http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...0BUICKPICS.jpg http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...ICKPICS007.jpg http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...ICKPICS006.jpg http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...ICKPICS005.jpg http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...ICKPICS004.jpg http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...ICKPICS003.jpg http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...ICKPICS002.jpg http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...ICKPICS001.jpg <!-- / message -->
Good looking Buick! My old lady is gonna run a zebra fur interior in her He**** as well, hopefully after covering your ride there's some left over for the rest of us
That fabric? It's like love it or hate it. OK, I love it. Big balls to do it. But, I'm liking it. I bet the little girlies wanna rub around naked on it. HMMM, lovin it even more now. I agree with getting rid of the rats and any other "doo-dads". Too ****ing juvenile
A little obnoxious on the interior for me, but if you like it, you might as well run with it. Please get rid of the ****ing rats. I hope the one on the hood isn't mounted there some how. Getting the grill rechromed would make it look a lot better.
car looks like it survived pretty well after hitting that herd of zebra's! i'm not sure if what comes to mind after checking out the pic's: HUGGY BEAR or DAKTARI! roll with it.
I'd like to do some ****in' in that back seat! (hopefully with a chick and not by myself! ) I'd put another rat in the truck so when people lift the truck there is another rat. What is wrong with rats?
Was this your suttle way of saying rat rod? Hell, put a zebra on the hood so it all matches. Different is always going to get comments, good and bad. If you like it, that's all that matters.
I have heard it said that even the greatest authors go through many revisions of their original m****cript before releasing it to the publisher (and the critics). With that in mind... I would suggest some revision- keep what you really like about the car, and revise/change the rest. The paint and interior are fine, but I would get a pinstriper to work on giving the car a touch of exterior personality (not the press-on kind) and please lose the vermin on the hood. let's face it- the terms "rat" and "ratrod" don't fly here- they have come to be very ignorant depictions of what someone thought the 50's were all about. The was my dad's generation, and while he wasn't rolling in the dough, his cars NEVER looked that way, nor did his friend's rides. The 50's Buicks showed us some very tasteful uses of chrome trim- so tasteful that Sam Barris decided to use some on the side of the Hirohata Merc, as did many others- please get some chrome on that poor car to give it some lines and decency.
It kinda looks like a poor attempt at a rat rod/even has a rat on the hood. It needs more chrome, especially in the bumper area. Get the bumper chromed and you'll be on your way. I'd lose the interior too. Some nice vinyl or even tuck'n'roll. I say start over. But you still get credit in my book for doing it and trying (not that my opinion really has any worth to begin with). Not everybody gets it right the first time. Hell I've tried to draw up some scallops on the computer for my truck several times, and I can't even get them right yet.
Okay folks, the rats were only to get some feathers riled up. I've been watching this forum for a year almost. This ain't a rat rod, its a pure *** 50 Buick all original. Thanks! P.S. As of tomorrow morning, the rats are gone. All for show.
I'm currently building a 29 sedan and 47 DeSoto. I'm sure we'll have fun in the future. Thank you FNG
I like it but would lose the rats and dip those bumpers in chrome. But if that is what you wanted or the best you could do for now I would roll it.
the car itself looks great, looks very solid, and not beat up. that being said...lose the rat, and the interior. over done is just that......over done. when you can't tell a flat surface from a round one....style has gone out the window, down the street, in the bar had a few drinks, and drove off the cliff. your interior, well......ya..its falling. theres something to be said about cars of the pre muscle car era. your car is whispering that. you have a beautiful car condition wise...use that to your advantage!
i think its awesome that you sat there and finished a car where as a lot of ppl dont even finish their first rod. the zebra interior is a bit much, but heck, its your car, do what ya like, you know? anyways, great job.
I LOOOOOVE Zebra interiors, and you used the GINCHIEST material, but, just using straight black for the headliner or door cards or seat backs would have broken it up nicely!!!! Dash etc look great! Duuude....dump it on its guts!!!!! Then prioritize a dual exhaust rumble of some sort Oh......and start searching those swap meets for all the damn chrome you can find to put on that badboy!!! You say "I been readin on here for about a year" ....... then why didnt you read the bit about primer (let alone flattened paint) now coming in all the colors of the rainbow....OTHER than black! Quickest way you can make it all up to us is to DRIVE THE SNOT OUT OF IT
the body is so straiht why not paint it 2 stage? or at least something different than the flat black and rockabilly red steelies, i like the interior but i will deff get some chrome back on the bumpers
