I got a 66 and just the other day I was wondering this very same thing, can the I-beam be dropped like an early axle? and I was wondering if there was anyone on the hamb who had a jig or knows how to do this sorta thing to where the axles ain't all messed up

I drive mine everyday and don't really want to be without IFS

I don't think there is a cheap way out of it?
Dropped I beams or dropped stub axles it's all going to be expensive.
I got mine down 3 inches just by putting lowered springs in it, but if you want it slammed then a mustang or jaguar front end is the go?

the 65 my friend i did we lifted it actually. we raised it about 4". we did a relief cut on the i beam to be able to bend it and then welded it up and plated them in the length of the I beam on both sides. damn truck never wore the tires, he got about 45000 out of a set of BFG Mud terrains no less. my cousin has a 65 shorty that is at my shop that he paid close to a grand for the same lift, they just bend the stock i beams and you give them yours as cores. its not that hard to do you just have to do the math, and make sure your angles are correct , as where you want the truck to sit.

Just got a 65 short bed for my son. Here's a place that has dropped beams for a lot less than $600 if you can sort through all the pimp my whip ****. www.truckn-store.com

We have a stock 53 F100 axle that looks to be close to the right size for replacing the twin beams. I was thinking about getting that one dropped. If anybody starts dropping the twin beams we would be interested.

Take that twin I beam, cut it off and throw it in the trash.

Here is mine with an 78 Pontiac Grand Prix front clip. Done in a weekend.

And, my old 68 "back in the day" (79 Olds Cutl*** front.)
