Looks like it is time to share with you, the toys that are in the family starting with this 1940 Ford Opera Coupe that I grew up in and of course paved my way to be in the Hotrod scene for life. If some of you don't know, an Opera Coupe has 2 folding seats in the back while 90% of all coupes are 2 seaters.
I have seen this car change 5 times in it's life and the pics shown is what it looks like today. My father bought just the shell in the late 60's and was built from the ground, up. Even the interior was done by my mother. I had designed the look of the car and did the taping and airbrushing. Full bags front and back gives the options to lay it on the ground and jack it up to go racing. The engine is a 289 they came out of an A/C Cobra that was originally wrapped around a pole. We have been told today that this experimental 289 engine is extremely rare from the shelby collection. Tons of power for such a small engine.
You might have seen this car every year at the Back 2 the 50's Run in Minneapolis Minnesota. We have been going for over 18 years and will continue til there is no more.
Anyways, enjoy the pics and hope you like. More of the projects to come.
