Man hospitalised after shooting car wheel

    Wednesday Nov 14 14:00 AEDT
    By ninemsn staff
A US man is recovering in hospital after an attempt to loosen a stiff wheel nut on his tyre with a hand gun backfired.
The 66-year-old Washington man was repairing his car outside his home when the accident happened, BBC News reports.
Frustrated with the inability to loosen the wheel nut, the man pulled out a 12-gauge shot gun and blasted it at the wheel.
Buckshot and debris sprayed back onto the man, giving him severe — but not life threatening — injuries.
The debris flung back on to his feet and all the way to his abdomen, with some fragments reaching as far up as his chin.
Police said the man was not intoxicated at the time.
He had been working on his Lincoln Continental for a fortnight, police said.
"He's bound and determined to get that lug nut off," said Deputy Scott Wilson, a spokesman from the sheriff's office.

    from here

Since when is a shotgun a 'hand gun'???

Only hand shotgun Ive ever known about was a 20Ga 'boot pistol'.
And the last time they were legal in -this- country was prior to 1934,
when they were outlawed by the Volsted Act.

Ive experienced some lug nuts that had been over torqued by an
ignoramus with an impact wrench - but I would have hunted down
and shot that ignoramus and then his impact wrench ;-)

    **************
Just came back to correct an error - It wasnt the volstead act - that was prohibition. Senility is a ..... what was I going to say ???

It was the National Firearms Act of 1934 !! I apologize.

The BBC was reporting this? Is England that boring that this is news half way around the world?

    Pretty funny, though.

It was posted by someone else in there too!

I found it after I read the article on the AUSTRALIAN news site, and thought it was perfect for an O/T topic here!

    Cheers, Glen.
