Car is looking good. Are you still looking for a trans? The one I had was a 700R4 but someone bought it now

ahh yes nice work sir:) That shop is like the Bermuda triangle you lose all kinds of **** at it.

  9. Well i've been in the shop a bit and got my motor and trans mounted in the shoebox. I purchased a 365 caddy out of a 56' that i brought home and fired up on the floor with a makeshift stand i built quick like. After i new she ran, i got to cleaning her up and giving her fresh gaskets. I got a wilcap adapter to run a 700r4 trans behind it. I picked up a trans for cheaps last weekend and got to it on some motor mounts and re working my crossmember for the ****** mount. Heres the progress pics for now... thanks again,
    Matt Petersen

  11. Well ive had some vacation time from work so ive been hunkered down in the shop weathering all these storms and getting some trunk floors in my old girl. I started out by building a driveshaft hoop and welding it into the rear crossmember. Next it was time for wheel tubs. I drilled all the spot welds on the rear wheel well opening and removed all the old wheel house. The next step was to build some wheel tubs and trim them down to fit the floors and outer skin of the quarter. i got my tubs fit and clamped in place. I made a pattern for my trunk floor corners that filled in next to my fuel cell on each side and got to town on the shear and break.i fit the trunk floors and made a center filler panel. I have several feet of hat channel that i bent up in the brake that i will cut up and build structure out of. Thats all for now!!

Metal work in the trunk area looks super clean. Caddy motor turned out nice too. Keep posting pics, give me some more inspiration to start my '50.

  18. Well i finally finished my trunk area up and its finally finish welded and seam sealed. I made the tubs and floor pans from 18 ga. The notch cover i rolled out in my slip roller this weekend and welded in. I got my rack and pinion in the mail as well and got a chance to install it. It looks like my steering shaft wont have any interference with the exhaust. Hoping to be running by the hunnert car pileup!

  24. Thanks for the feedback guys. Today i got the front sheetmetal on and started getting fender gaps set and what-not. Yesterday i fired the motor and ran it for awhile to get some oil through her and keep her from getting tight on me. I need to head to the driveshaft shop, find a perfect steering column, and start thinking about master cylinder set up, i need to keep it under the floor for sure! All in all she is moving along well.
    thanks again,
    Matt
