Well for starters I was surprised on the response on my first post. The way I look at it everyone has there own tastes of vehicles weither it be streetrods, hotrods, ratrods etc. In the end, would you rather drive a streetrod or an import? I guess I don't undersatnd cause I am a true car fanatic and love all types of ol skool cars. It's called variety, originality and unique. Anyways, I had a special request from littleman aka Dave to post pics here of one of my lastest projects that I was telling him about. It's a 1930 3 window Durant Coupe. Only 3 in the world restored, this will be #4-1 meaning #4 in the world, but #1 built as a Hotrod (Not a streetrod). So far, the car has be channeled over the frame 7 inches, the roof chopped 2 inches and the doors suicided. More pics to come as the progress goes on. Hope you like Dave and again thanks for letting me sit in your Hemi-Deuce. You have one bad @$$ ride along with all your other projects. Was cool meeting ya.
Your first response wasn't from hatred or closed minds really... It's just that this forum is focused on traditional cars... and we try to keep it focused. That's all. You wouldn't find an import in street rodder - right? Same kind of thing...
Cool...a Durant......looks similar to an Es***..... My dad built a hotrod RPU out of a Durant touring body.....a little O/T for this forum, but a fun little car to hotrodaround in..... Nice project!
that's cool! may not be first though http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=109145&highlight=durant
Nice looking project. Unfortunately, I think you may be number 4-2, since Evil1 also has a Durant in the works.
Completely understandable. I just wanted to share my ol mans ride, the one that has got me hooked in the hotrod industry since birth, even though my father is all about the modern look and I'm all about ol skool. A lot of work went into that 40 and even though it's a streetrod, it is not a trailer queen. He drives it to all the shows with man chips and scratches etc to prove it. On another note, thanks for all the compli's on the Durant. It's actually cool to see another one being built. Evil1, I might have that handle your looking for, so drop me a PM. Maybe we can swap parts. I'll try and get upadted pics of the project. Just can't find them on my com.
Welcome to the Hamb Marc.......Thanks for posting your pics, everything is kool, I am glad that you posted pics of your dads ride also, it does not matter what the cars style is now, its the car along with your father that got you involved into the hobby.....Its super kool that your father still has it, and as you said its been rebuilt a handful of times over the many years....It looks like your father wanted a nice driver w/ some creature comforts built in....its a reflection of what he wants in a car at this time, we all change over the years to some point....He bought it in the 60's, still has it, built it, p***ed down the love of cars to you.....Thats kool and a tradition in its own right...Your Coupe project is what this place is all about, and your new project has so much potential!!!.........It was great to meet all of you in California, Please keep us posted on your projects....Dave Littleman Lohr
I appreciate comments Dave. It was truely an honor to meet all of ya at SoCal Speed Shop. Between you, Richie, Jimmy and Pete. All of ya are down to earth great guys. It's best when TV doesn't go to someones head and it surely did not with any of you. I'll have to post pics from the shop tour. The good ones though with me in your deuce ended up in the vid, not memory which ****s. Will have to figure that out. Anyways, thanks to everyone for having me here. Looking to be another place to call home.
