    Hey all!!

Oddball question, I bought a way cool '59 Edelbrock 3 deuce intake for the low block 383, and have since put a 440 into my Model A.

I would like to use the B intake with the RB block, would these Mopar Performance spacers do the trick? Or is there another trick, short of rebuilding the 383?

    Thanks fellow Chrysler Psychos!!!!

Well, since you said the intake is for a '59 383 - make sure it really is for a low-deck B block! I'm pretty sure the first B block 383 was released in '62 and before that ('58-61) 383 Mopar engines were based on the RB tall block.

Compare the intake width to the one on your 440 - it might bolt right up.

It doesn't appear that those spacers are the ones to fit B intakes to RB blocks. Mopar Performance has them somewhere in the catalog. Good luck!

probably not because they're for Stage VI heads, but you should be able to find some for normal heads.

I know they were produced, but Louver Dude and I still haven't found any...maybe call the Mopar Performance order phone number and see if they sell em.

I had a duel quad 383 intake that I wanted to run on a 440
and I started to set it up with a set of those spacers
and it looked like it would work but I would still need to make some 1/4 " spacers
for the front and rear of the valley pan. I still have the spacers
but sold the duel quad setup:cool: Ron....

maybe you can see the spacers these pictures

I don't see why you'd need any spacers for the front of the valley pan, that still mounts in the same spot as stock...if elscotto doesn't take 'em maybe Louver Dude could use 'em.

    Nope. 350s and 361s were always low-deck. The 383 was tall-deck from '58-61.

For 1962, the low-deck and tall-deck engines were given more cubes. The B became 383 and the RB became 413.

Gotgas is correct. The first 383s were RB engines. Maybe that '59 Edelbrock intake is for a 350 or 361, which were B engines. If it is for an RB, then it will fit 413, 426 wedge, and 440.

You don't need a front spacer if you wind up going that route. The valley pan goes between the head and the spacer and not between the intake and spacer. That way you can attach the valley pan in front with the standard 3 bolt metal hold downs.

It won't work.......send it to me....I can make it work....haha.

Indy makes the spacers I believe to bolt B intakes to RB blocks.....if in fact your intake will fit a B block....

Got a pic of the intake???

that is true the 440 valley pan can be used under the spacers and you will still need to use paper gaskets between the spacers and the intake.
I needed front and rear spacers because the duel quad intake I had sealed al the way to the front and back:rolleyes: Ron...

The 383 B engine was in fact produced in 1960 as a high performance long ram engine. I have one, and the remnants of the Fury convert it was in. I also have the dealer manual for the car, so it's the real deal and not a transplant. I always assumed the tall deck 383 was a 58-59 deal.

I'm running a set of spacers like that on a 440.
    I made them myself though.

The width of an RB is 1" wider then the width of a B motor. Intakes on B & RB Mopars are "dry" intakes, engine coolent does not pass through them. All the spacers are is 1/2" plate with holes cut for the intake ports and holes for the bolts to pass through. You can use a paper intake gasket for a pattern. Suppose if you think you will need them, you will have to cut in the holes for the heated air intake.

In the realm of auto parts, a set of intake spacers is not rocket ship building, esspecially with a big block Mopar. :p Gene
