Inspection sticker????We don't need no stinkin' inspection sticker.....I inspect my cars ever time I'm going down the freeway at seventy, through the windshield.......
Wow, good thing it was not built for you. Lets see your car, I would love to see what a "perfect" car looks like. I LOVE the car Vern!!!
yeah... Some people get it and others... Well, they just don't. Frankly I think that's cool. That said, all tardel cars are built to be driven and driven hard. I know this from personal experience. This black 32 drives, rides, and handles woderfully. Calling a car you know nothing about a "trailer queen" shows a lack of character in my opinion. The other comments were just fine.
Is California like Texas in that we don't have to ever get inspection stickers on "Antiques"? I'm guessing that revkev has to have one in Ma., and that's some of his confusion.
you, my friend, most certainly do. I'll say this... I've seen a lot of 32 roadsters in the last year, but I don't know if I would take any over this one. Its hard for me to explain why...
It took alot more than money to build that car. A little something called "taste" is what makes it stand out. Good for Vern.
And restraint, all the right stuff in that car, no extra FLUFF........it takes passion to build a car to that level. Beautiful car........
Those Champion dash panels are on Ebay all the time---five and six holers. I never cared for them---until now. Leave it to Vern Tardel to show the way.
Damn straight. Vern has the eye to build beautiful cars. I could only hope to shake his hand one day and see the cars in person. Maybe I'll have to make a trip just for that occasion one of these days. I've got this car and ryans hanging in my shop for inspiration.
Question - Are you referring to the "street rod" inspection that's done by the NSRA - at their car parks - oops, I mean shows? As most people who know the work done by Vern, Keith and his talented crew - personally - you won't find one of those stickers on his cars, cause they're hot rods. The owners do the inspections - every time they drive it, look at it, love it. The miles racked up by the cars they've built is the only proof needed to show the quality of the hot rod. I have seen Vern use a trailer - I've even passed it....but it was for the Bonneville race car - 517 Tardel/McKenzie. But - as previously noted, to each their own - trailers and all.............bet you own a Skittles car.
I just assumed this entire response was a joke. It reads as ridiculous to me. I appreciate seeing the new roadster. Cars like that are the reason I am a HAMB reader. I dare say that anyone who can not appreciate that car is jaded, and might benefit from some reflection upon his or her stance regarding classic traditional hot rods.
i took a ride in that car , and can tell you it rides perfect!!!!!!!!!! Besides that , i also think your statement is a joke !!!!
Can someone show me what an inspection sticker is so I can identify the difference between a trailer queen and a real hot rod? The roadster is beautiful, though. Dave
Not long ago, I was drawing up what I would want if I were to build a deuce roadster for myself. Mainly, just to see what I would be in for on cost. When I saw the pics of this car, I was almost shocked to see what was better than 90% my own vision. To say that this car agrees to my taste would be a gross understatement. I was starting to wonder if Vern has been hackin' my computer,. Great Job Vern, I REALLY enjoyed seeing the pics. (hope to see more details too!) When you have people zooming in the photos searching for any flaw they can find, it's easy to tell who is off their rocker jealous over this thing. Inspection sticker?? good grief.....if this was my car and someone wanted to put an inspection sticker on it, it would be the last thing they put a sticker on.
cool car but i would love to see the how to build up pics ,rather then the finished car ,but thats me.
Nice looking car but give me a brake. Brookvile body stamped frame ? And all the other Bs LOL I Think id rather drag it outa the field then be a QUEEN
You can all keep on bickering and splitting hairs over "trailer queen" or "driven" or "Henry body" or "Brookville body" or "ASC rails" or an original frame, pro-built or home-garage built. This car is a work of art, an exquisite jewel, and it flat takes my breath away.
buzzard, you are 100% correct in that statement. Since 99% of Ma inspection laws are based on california's I assumed that california antique's required state inspection stickers like we do. If they don't, then I fully and completely retract my statement about trailer queens. most of my post in this thread is a tongue in cheek jab at the hamb collective pedestal pushing of Vern Tardel. I never quite understood why although a great builder with obvious skill, he is in the hamb's eyes immune from criticism. The guy could post a pic of his excrement and half the forum would post about it's exquisite shape color and texture even going as far as to say it's likes will never be seen again When it's okay to pick apart some kids first build on this forum, but I get a PM from a moderator about being "rude" for picking apart a $100k++ ride that's honestly the part "I don't get" it's a nice car, but honestly people, stop humping the guys leg
When He builds a turd, I'll call it a turd. So, it's got a Brookville body. It's not some overexagerated glass POS. where do you draw the line on reproduction parts? Am I only allowed to patch my quarters with Henry's original steel? Or, is it the fact that someone had the money to pay Vern and the guys to build him his dream car? I don't see anything trendy about it. Should we be humping your leg? Is that the problem? What car does it for you?
Everybody is a critic and it seems that there are more critics in our hobby then many others out there.....I don't think there is a problem with that, as far as this roadster the car is very appealing to the eye, I'm sure it's built very nicely while a couple parts aren't my flavor it's not my car. a couple of things noted on this post are the gauge panel and the stock shock mounts that I noticed comments about. The shock/spring perches I think are cool, it would be that way when a young guy would want to upgrade his houdiaille shocks to tube shocks and simply left the mounting piece on the perch. The car in my eyes deserves a nicer dash, some type of early dash or panel cut in with early gauges to boot.....I see a nice Pierce Arrow insert in there. Other then that I enjoy looking at it especially since it's a finished car.
One of the neat things about the HAMB is that if you build a wonderful car folks will tell you so. Can't get that kinda feedback from a magizine. Doesn't matter if your a proshop or a back yard one stall garage, a bitchen car is a bitchen car. The dude could have just posted photos of the roadster without any indication of who built it and most of us would still hump the guys leg for posting the photos. On the flip side, post some photos of a crap built car and folks here will tell you the truth and hopefully the owner/builder will learn from it. After all, isn't that what we are all here for to teach, learn, and spread the gospel?
