Well I am back in the good ol U.S. I have to say that the patrol I was just on had to be one of my weirdest yet. When we left Seattle we were heading to San Diego for three weeks of training then down to Central America for drug interdiction patrol. So everyone had brought clothes for warm weather. Well after we got underway we were informed we were going to Alaska for three weeks to cover for one of our sisters ships which was stuck inport with mechanical problems. We got to Alaska and started to patrol in the Bering, then we were informed that we were going to stay up there for the whole 90 day patrol. About three weeks later we were diverted to Japan for High seas drift netter's then back up to Alaska. Finally got home the other day. Eric
Welcome back, but most of all Thank You for your sacrifice and service to this great country. Enjoy your down time.
We are proud to have defenders of America a**** us, and glad you are back from your adventure. Never a dull moment, huh?
The avatar is great! "Never fear, the Coast is Clear!" from Roth studios. Somewhere here in the house I have that on a T-shirt I ordered while I was in the Guard from 1967-71. Do you have that in a larger size that you could email to me? I'd appreciate it. I guess modern Coasties don't watch "Onionhead"(Andy Griffith) and "The Fighting Coast Guard"(Forrest Tucker" on the mess deck anymore, do they?
No we don't have onionhead but we do have the fightinng Coast Guard on DVD's. I emailed a larger copy of the picture for you. Paul, I will try to stop by when I get a chance to check out your projects. Eric
Welcome back! I know the feeling It's been a few years since I sailed on the Bering. I'm enjoying the FL sun for now but who knows? Transfer season is coming.
Thanks for the copy! You just have to get a copy of "Onionhead" to amuse the new guys, that is anyone younger than 50 or so. And thanks for your Service in our Service as well.
