good buy at that price boyd i got mine in july from a good friend for 200 us $s everything was in great working order, i did not take any before pics cause it dont matter what the hell it looked like then but i am 50% done and it is lookin bitchin i will post the after pics when done i cut it up and am adding the rearend with a homemade wooden jig and its within tollerance i have extended the rear 10 inches and lowered the frame down to 4 inches off the ground i picked up a thirties model a spare tire cover for a rear fender and a jesse james seat pan and a king sportser tank that my bro is painting black with green ghost flames on he will later paint the rear fender to match the frame will be green and the avons are white walls the drag bars really give it a mean stance look. remember guys back in the late sixties some of the best looking choppers were yamachoppers and some of the members of my family were building them that is where i was bitten by the biker bug and i have never gotten over the infection and hope i never will.... rex....
OK you don went an did it!! I have this 650 Tri. still setting in my Dad's garage since I broke the clutch cable on the ape hangers in 73. Where can I get a bolt on hard tail for it?
I posted a hokey ass tech on hardtailing an XS650 over on the Jockey Journal.... http://www.jockeyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=989 It was my first time doing this, so I shared some of what I learned along the way. It's not too difficult (although I had some professional help from Clark 'SoWhat'). I don't have a garage so I've been building this in my kitchen. Far from a high tech setup. Here's the Yamaha I've been putting together. 2" stretch, home grown hardtail, slight rake, and the best part- still under $500 total in the thing. Maybe I'll finally finish it in the spring. Photos aren't the best, sorry. I love Triumphs, but not enough to step up and pay for one when I can do this instead. I'll also include a photo of the bike I'm helping my buddy build. Also in my kitchen. His is the silver/purple one. Much more stock shit on his and it still needs work on the rear fender and some other shit, but he's also only about $500 into his. Rob
I've built Britbikes for about 35 years now. There's a very basic simple mechanical appeal to them that I like. The Yamaha 650 is a great engine in that same style. Triumphs have gotten pricey like everything else lately. I've still got one in the rafters of my barn that I hope to live long enough to put together. This link should take you to pictures of the last two I built, one custom, one stock. The custom is my favorite bike of all the ones I've built, but a little dressy for the tastes of this board. I like them all regardless of style or finish. If I can be of any help send me a message. http://www.rustyhope.com/page7.html. If the address doesn't work just do a search for rustyhope and click on the Triumph page.
Hey, that's me. Here's the link: http://www.sense.net/~blaine/hardtail.html And the finished bike: http://www.lafishmag.com/scogin.html Bob
