Well, just got a new ch***is done for a buddy. The ever popular fenderless truck. Came out pretty slick.Sits in the stock well the body has for the frame. So not really channeled. But looks it. Did a 18" rear kick and 5" in the front, flat crossmember. Triangluted 4 bar with transverse spring. Couple crummy pictures... (will be adding this to my product line)
There are going to be more and more of these fenderless trucks built (deal with it people)......and I think it's cool, esp when the cab comes from a 1 ton or larger truck that have would otherwise be s****ped......as long as it's well executed. Gets a guy into building something on the cheap, at least the body anyway..... Coincedentally, the lastest SRM has an article on this subject...... What? The frame??
Pretty cool Eric but it doesn't look like you're working on your roadster. You don't want us to have to come down there now do you?
I don't think this will sell very well. Almost everybody can take ****py pictures pretty easily on their own. Except KIRK.
Dug,I have a spare bedroom.Downstairs next to the garage.Has it's own bathroom.Fridge in garage.Come on over !Stay for a month or two. Yes,the frame is a new product.figuring It will sell for $1,100.00 plain. Oh,I'll take better pictures, and there will be beer cans involved. Finally got the 32 frame jig up and running too.... And the coupe mocked up....
Two of my friends are rounding up parts for similar projects. One is 29 and the other is 63. Fenderless trucks seem to be catching on across the hot rod spectrum. I don't know how many ch***is Vaphead will sell. But there is a market. And I'd bet he could sell a set of plans now and then as well. What do you think a roller would cost out the door?
Looks Good! My next project if i ever get the "A" done is a 34-35 Dodge Brothers fenderless truck cab, mabey we can strike a deal, dunno if i want to build it myself...
We can modify the spec's to fit about any cab from 35-48. Couple simple measurements is all it takes... Bibs,a roller with a new 9" would be around $6,000.oo or so.... Already working on frame number 2.
Rico, make sure you put an x member in all your frames ,we dont want them to be dangerous now do we B
Great job ! I love fenderless truck-cab HotRods........with roadster, coupe and sedan body prices going out-of-sight, these will become more popular......
Yup,when you buy all brand new stuff it ain't cheap. A new 9" Ford rear end is over $1,500.oo but you can find one for $50.00 if you watch craigs list. $1,100.00 is cheap for the amount of time and work went into the frame. I was in a hurry and didn't get very good pictures taken. Here is some detail shots...
I'd want food too and beer, can never be sure how much I'd get done. Also, I'm not comfortable working without my own tools so they'd have to come along too. We're talking a lot of freight there.... Better just do it yourself and send your homies pictures. We miss you, Doug
[ I was glad to see SinisterCustoms' post as he hit the nail squarely on the head as far as I'm concerned. Plus if we all built the same way grumpy guys wouldn't have anything to complain about. LOL
I have a ad in Garage magazine. But it's a drawing of a car. I have not found HRD in a store around here yet.
hey Rico, gettin up at 2.00 a.m. to go to the albany OR. swap.w/Dug and Andre ,f'n brutal ,wish you were back home in the great N.W. B
