"Moving pictures with sound will transform the entertainment industry in the many that has already been documented in this periodical. Logically, it's safe to assume that we are experiencing the birth of something new... To read the rest of this entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
What a "blast from the past", thats some cool film. Love the rails, definitely good parentage for our HA/GR cars.
I agree. Those cars had some big channel jobs! I guess I have to take back my comment that "nobody channelled that much in the day".
this is the coolest grouping of cars I have ever seen. east coast style. possibly filmed in the midwest, its so dam flat their. I was thinking sanford drags, ME but i dont know. that channeled 5w is a wicked pisser. great stuff.
definetly! for some reason when i was watching it i was thinking ohio though... very cool, thanks for posting~!
Proof that many cars back then sorta did have the "rat rod" look of today (not my fav term), but also proof they were more in the mold of what the Choppers and others do (Kool stuff) and not what you find in certain magazines and at alot of shows these days. Some finished out cars, some functional cars, not seeing any pure junk. Good stuff and full of soul!
Doesn't look like anything from CCSRB. And I know Sanford isn't that flat. But it is WICKED cool. I'll check my books later on and see if there is anything that looks familiar. Love seeing old films.
Yea, 8mm and Super-8 had no audio capability. Just yell, drink beer, and eat popcorn that you actually had to cook on the stove! No 2-minute microwave bags for these hot rodders. Thanks for posting!
lovely. each one of those cars is something special. i love the red roadster, and the black 5 window. my favorite is that HA/GR style FED.
Thats cool, as hell. I second the need for a projector sound. That chopped and channeled 5 window is bad ass, thats what I want mine to look like
that was the best two minuets i've spent in a long time. i'm just glad some didn't put some sad rockabilly over it or some cheesy doo wop and <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/PltQLZqmFt0&rel=1&border=0"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PltQLZqmFt0&rel=1&border=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> and <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zIOmoWx69hs&rel=1&border=0"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zIOmoWx69hs&rel=1&border=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
thats awesome, i bet it was alot of fun back then. i wonder if there was as much pissing and moaning as there is today? its cool they didnt have to worry about if their cars were traditional enough or not they were just building cars and going fast! probably alot simpler back then...
Beautiful post, thanks..Reminds me of the Tecumsch Dragway in Michigan in the late 50's..I thought I saw myself in the film..You never know..
I agree with Skumbag, probably just the purest form of hotrodding, guys building their (own) cars, driving the shit out of 'em, chasin' chick's, gettin' chased by the cops, and loving every minute of it. I know one thing for sure after watchin' that film, my '29 needs a channel job!
