Today I decided to take the 39 out for another drive only to have my right front wheel lock up on me around 20-25 mph. Man did that wake me up, when I got off the road achecked the car out and realized that it was my brake that locked up. So I went home and got a jack and other necessary tools required for the job. To my surprise the caliper bracket was missing two nuts and bolts which allowed the bracket to move. This ended up cracking the rear pad which wedged itself enoughto lock the wheel up. I am glad this happened at low speeds and nothing happened . I can say that I will be checking nuts and bolts from now on and make it a religous practice to apply lock tite to everything even if the have nylocks on them or not. I will not say who's kit I used for because this is my fault for overlooking the obvious. So be sure to perform regular inspection of your rides and to everyone have a great thanksgiving.

I am goint through the whole car and giving it a new look for next year. I will be tearing everything apart and double checking everything that is crucial. Hell I will double check everything.

First lemme say Glad you O.K.

Then lemme second the comment about not liking Disc Brakes.

Buddy of mine about 2 weeks ago had about the same problem with his Rear disc brake, But when his bolt fell out the pad was riding on the inside of his 15X14 aluminum wheel, He has about a 750 hp big block Chev in a '65 Pick up....

Did a BIG Top Fuel Burn out & the pad dug a groove and cut the rim in 1/2 blowing out the 33x21.50 M/T.

Did someone say Disc Brakes are safer ??

I'll stick with my 12" '41 Lincoln brakes Thank You ..
