Hey - I will be there - I will be selling my stuff - and I hope to be able to go to the Choppahead garage and get some film footage of what the guys are working on - Has everyone checked out the Vol. 2 - good stuff and a LOT of new coverage I am wondering if anyone up in the NE has any cars that I can take pix of and some video? I will be doing this periodically throughout the year to get some footage that will go on Youtube and later - possibly a DVD anyone up there have any ideas? Obviously I will be shooting footage of the cars at the show - but I know a lot of guys on this board reject going to shows like World of Wheels - so I am wondering if I can shoot on Thursday before the show......... let me know I am open to anything pre '65 that is custom or a traditional hot rod also looking for artist that may be up that way - anyone that would be doing pinstriping or Roth related art style? Let me know!
This is way too funny, I'm takin my car and I'm goin home... What's the matter, no trophy last year?? This show is a great mid-winter break, I'll be there looking. We pile in the car, so the parking split 20 ways isn't too bad!
LMAO!!!!!!I agree usually people are looking for something to do in the snow!! Beside while your there take a trip into Boston to hang out, i think theres a few Bars in beantown. Thats also the reason i go to the "swap" meet at the big E, its usuallt 3o out & having a swap to go to is a nice break.I could just sit around all winter cleaning my rifles!! jimV
I hear they have cut down the room. The whole venders section is gone, only 4 cars per club allowed. I didn't see many rods there in the past, now there will be fewer. More rice burners and boom boxers. The times they are a changing.
That is too bad.I remember going there one year when I was living in M*** and some crazy SOB had a Conley 1/4 scale V-8 he kept firing up until they threw him out.I think everyone around him was getting high on the nitro fumes.First and only time I ever heard one of those things and it sounded like one very pissed off and huge hornet.
Ill be there- hell Im staff! BUT I think we are gonna do a Chop-Shop Customs booth again- not sure what ill bring for a car yet. As for the show- its true this is the last year at Bayside. They are tearing it down. The parking lot Nazis are ALWAYS less than helpful and not even the Bayside can control their rates and at***udes-even staff has to pay to use that lot all weekend and we have to be there. A lot of stuff people blame **** Royer for is NOT **** but regs from the ISCA or the Bayside, so please back off of the guy- he is good people and works hard at putting on the show . New England guys should think about doing the show again- its a ton of fun- zillions of people see you and your car and its a great place to see everyone off season. The show is what the people around here make it- IF we could get more 'hot rods' into the show and people wanting to bring their cars in, we would- you cant MAKE someone put their car in a show. If you can, please tell me how!
HAHAHA...Clinton couldn't have said it better for you..."I am not a trophy hound"...and a BJ isn't ***, right!! Thanks for the entertainment John!
**** does not have anything to do with the judging. That is a fact . Many of the judges come from out of state- there are only a few from our area.In fact, if you 'know a bunch of judges' then you also realize that they can take the friendship portion out of the picture and look strictly at the car for what it is and how it needs to be judged according to the ISCA guidelines. I really hope you reconsider putting in in the show again this year .Tons of people enjoyed seeing it there- which is REALLY why you put it in the show in the first place- not the trophy. And I personally appreciate having a 'gr*** roots ' beauty such as yours in the show- makes people realize they too can do this with blood sweat and tears. By the way, that trophy as well as Street Machine of the year have both been done away with from the Boston show for 2008. As a compe***or in the show before I had a shop, not winning either of those trophies didnt deter me from taking my 56 year after year..I loved the reaction on peole's faces- the same reaction we got last year with my son's 32 Ford go kart. I guess you may not like the high end cars but with the ISCA charging $13 a head ( or more) we HAVE to give the people who attend the type of cars they see on TV (or at least a portion of them). Next to the Detroit ISCA show, Boston is the 2nd largest cash making show for the ISCA - its a AA show- the highest caliber- so there is definately stress there on **** to provide a quality event from the people above. My job for the show is to GET cars to the show , street driven cool stuff- so if you or anyone else wants to brign their cars to a show like this and provide the cars you want to see- contact me. Id love to see more cars like yours there and less gl***.
Stop belly aching.. Call **** !! ...and tell him how you feel **** Royer (401) 766-8591 royer@worldofwheels.com
I also want to apoligize to everyone for sounding like a big baby,or big ***hole, all of this is just how I feel,so for yous that dont want to listen to it,(keith),then just ignore, theres no crime in me just letting people know how I feel about all of it. I enjoyed the piss out of putting the car in there,I had lots of fun,I couldnt put it again this year anyways if I wanted to,I'm changeing a few things around on the car for next year,so dont get me wrong hamb guys, its still worth going to,just Im not. John JR.
John you're a good kid. Your old man builds fantastic rods. Can't wait to see what he does with Dave's 35 rag top.
Well, the hole car is going to be a cream white,so,its no problem on the firewall.Oh ya,its going to have WWW tires, too. Thank you for calling me a good kid, just so everyone knows,I didnt have to pay you to say that. John JR.
John and his father went with 13 members of our club to the L.A. Rodster show. During the flight and show I got to talk with John Jr., his knowledge of rodding is amazing. His quest for trophys is expected. He and his father are perfectionists; just look at their work. Cut the kid a brake!
You know him personally, so you have an advantage on which to base your opinion. The sad fact is that others have only his post to judge their opinion. I think many here are cutting him a break. Car shows have always caused controversy, and people get their feelings hurt because they don't win. I put on a show in 1961 and had one guy wanting to drive his car out in a huff. Every show has guys standing around complaining they can't beat money. The fact is that, they can't, whether it is in a show or real life. Life isn't fair The fact he wants it for his father is absolutely great and to be commended. I have come back to the indoor shows after I have retired because I love the atmosphere and the people involved. Trophies collect dust and get sold at garage sales.
