I've had a real hard time finding a RELIABE foundry or individual to cast a few small parts (taillight brackets, etc.) in a weldable metal (vs. pot metal). Any help locating such a business would be greatly appreciated, especially from someone with personal experience. Thanks!

You might contact Dave Shoe off the FE forum. He's in Minn. or Wisc. but he went thru a bunch of hoops getting his FE Capsaddle project off the ground.

Have you tried Lodi Iron Works? A friend of mine has used them for production work, and they were nice to work with. Im not sure how small of a job they will do, but its worth checking into.

Charlie Yapp of secrets of Speed figured it out. Give him a call. Speaking of weldability I need to make some weldability tests of my own casting work. Good stuff.

I think if you just specify they make your parts out of one part model a ford pistons and three part pontiac turbo 350 transmission case aluminum you should find your weldability issues gone forever. Here are a few aluminum muffins of mine from my backyard foundry. I welded some garden variety square tube to it because you really got me thinking. Seems fine to me. Am I hired? :D Just kidding.

Contact Chromedrat. His family owns a foundry, and he can make anything you want.
