  9. Oldbobsign is on to something. You should just PM him and work something out. He is a fantastic sign designer ( Logo designer is the same thing ) and can give you what your masthead needs.

    All the other entries are nice and very creative. It's just that those efforts would not compete very well against all the other mags titles currently out there.

    If ya look at the history of Rod & Customs logo over the years. They always have updated it to be current but, it still stands out quite nicely at the local Jewel magazine rack.

    0.2 cents worth....

    I know you said you don't have money, but if you do have some I think it's worth spending on a logo, A logo (especially a magazine masthead) is one of the most important things you can spend time/money on (just my opinon of course).. People always say "Don't judge a book by it's cover," but when it comes to magazines i think thats what people do.. atleast thats what I do.. I see a magazine cover and if it doesn't catch my attention I most likely won't pick it up... I honestly think most of the logos people have done so far are okay but a magazine logo needs to be more simplified.. think Hot Rod, Garage, Time, Deadend.. (sorry had to self-promote.. haha) even take a look at the HAMB logo, that would look nice as a masthead..

    I was working on some design work when I came across your post.. spent a good 20 minutes (between eating some leftover pumpkin pie..) and this is what I came up with..

    The font could be better. just a quickie font a i had handy.. could be refined
    <img src=http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee254/designisgraphic/btg_cover01.jpg>

    Much more "newer" looking, different kind of feel, also needs some refining..
    <img src=http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee254/designisgraphic/btg_cover02.jpg>

    Oh yeah I changed the location, and please don't judge me on my quick, cheap photoshopping... I swear I can do better.. haha

    Good Luck

    Heres my stab at it, took a little while to dust off the ol'graphic designer part of my brain, everything has been consumed with car designing the last year or so

    I agree, I think Lowtech & SuperFleye are 2 good candidates..

    Superfleye's looks a little too much like "Seller's Equipped" logo though (http://www.myspace.com/sellersequipped).. good job though fellas!

    The Seller's logo isn't very original, there are old Moon logos just like that as well as others. Don't worry about that...

    they are all visually great . But they are all very slick and so is every other magazine on the news stand , It needs to be different like nothing else ,.......think about it..

    Here we go again. On the previous logo I borrowed an amazing star from an old Ansen decal. After studying too many old atomic curtains and old ads it is easy to pick up elements you like from different places, and mix them into new stuff. Shame on me :) But here is a new proposal, I have swapped the star I borrowed with a flying piston :)
