Fix that puppy up. Cool old bike! Went to a carshow last month and a fella had some old bikes there he was showing off, they were neat to see.

when i was younger, i cleaned it up a bit (this would have had to been in 1990s), just polished up the chrome back then which is what i will probably do again this spring.

My second bike was a used stingray. I was king of the hill. Do you guys remember sissy bars with shock absorbers. My dad bought it for fifteen bucks. I wanted a "krate" so bad. Only one rich kid in school had one.

My dad gave me his from when he was a kid for my first bike, painted it metallic red with a white banana seat. It was all the rage until the whole bmx bike thing set in. Damnit I hate selling all the cool stuff to fit in with my "homies".

My brother and I had Krate's. I had the "Lemon Peeler" (yellow) and my brothers was the "Cotton Picker" (white). They had a coil spring on front for a shock as well as shocks on the rear bar. My parents weren't rich, but years later when I found out how much they cost, felt bad for the sacrifice they made to keep us from whining.

I used to re-paint my bike once a month when I was a kid! My dad would come home from work and see the frame and forks hanging from the garage door and he would always tell me Wow, it looks great. I don't know if it always did or not, but he always encouraged me. Here are some pictures of my two daughters bikes. I started them out on Schwinn Lil Tigers when they were 3 years old, then moved up to midget Stingray's (16") and finally up to 5 speed Krates, stick shift 3 speeds and 2 speed kick backs!

Old bikes are cool. My 2 sons are into rebuilding old banana bikes, Sting Rays and CCM Mustangs. My younger son just picked up a Sting Ray minus the rear wheel for $5.00 at a garage sale. I always wanted one when I was a kid. I just might have to get one.

Hey isnt that Winnie Cooper's bike from "Wonder Years"

  22. Ours....

Mine I found on Craigslist, its a "Brand X, el cheapo chinese (probably) built cruiser", guy bought it, stripped it down, painted it flat black & had his friend stripe it & do the eyeball....He never rode it, sold it to me for like $50.00...I added a chrome chain & the flaked grips, a few decals & the eyeball valve caps. I love riding it.

Mrs A32's Schwinn, its a combo of parts from my old one and her's, they were both stolen one night, and 8 months later we got this one back, its my frame, seat & bars with her wheels/tires/fenders & chain guard.

I like muscle bikes! This is the "Jaguar Shark" I think it was a Sears Rail. Its extra long. I built the wheels with white spokes and gold nips. The rear is a two speed kickback hub. The seat is vintage, and I've since narrowed the bars 5" at the bottom and cut 3" off each end. The color is a powdercoat.

i was wondering what year it was
i had a second one that i ran into the ground and i think my mom threw it out (i had about 10 bikes at one time in various states of working) but it was more of a BMX and probably a much later model.
my wife's uncle's grandkids have a couple of them, they dont like em, im tempted to buy one just to have the original have young'un to yell at when no one is around lol.
You sure? the grips say SCHWINN. the seat is clearly not a schwinn, some generic seat my brother had laying around.

Bars, seat, sissy bar and tires all not original to that bike.

sissy bar, tires, and seat definitely arent. not sure on the handle bars though. eh, it looks alright, its not going to be one of those perfect restorations anyways. the bars though were on it when my dad got it at an auction decades ago.

Well, I've posted a ton in the past about my bikes. I did have a Stingray as a kid, sold the frame in the 90's. I've got lots of bikes, but the Stingray style bike I have is a '72 Riviera made in Taiwan.

Today Walmart had NEW Stingrays for $88! They are single speed, the sprocket looks stamped cheaper, but it had ape hangers, matching grips, springer forks, a slick, and a little front wheel. I took this pic at work today.

that and i realized the handgrips on the bars are usually the color of the bike (at least from one of the links posted in this thread).
my bro made some custom ones for my dad's bike but i dont think they turned out as they had hoped.
