Oooh Yeah! Only I even stare at the stuff I did a year ago. I've had my caddy for 8 years and I still walk backwards into the store.

    I think it's a car guy thing.

This is exactly what i was thinking,... I have always had a folding card table chair in any garage I have ever had,... I look for a while in one direction,.... walk around it,.... move the chair and look some more, all around the car,...
and this is what leads to the next thing I start working on,.... sit and enjoy,... but don't sit to long. :)

Not only after I do something but before as well, working it out in my head. I find I take a HELL of a lot longer before,...................
maybe its cause my head works so darn slow?

I still have a template for an aluminium bonnet I made for one of my old As, its different one side from the other. Took 15 min to make and two days of staring until I decided on the side I liked and still haven't made it!

the bottom on my truck is just oxide red primer, i've got some body work left from the body line down. so i sprayed the body line up to keep it from the elements, its kinda growing on me like it is. i got the senters of the wheels painted orange right now, my grandma said it looks like an A&W rootbeer delivery truck

a guy at work came across the same truck hes just doing a quickie on it thry to make a couple bucks, the only thing the interior had was a god awful seafoam green and charcoal colored seat so being the cheap ass he is he didnt want to pay to re-do the seat so he painted the whole truck around it seafoam green on the bottom with a charcoal roof and a charcoal tinted bedliner to match... its bad...

Da...maybe....No really thats why it's taking 34 years to get to the paint part on my 32. If you don't strive for perfection...what the hell is the use then?

  22. OH YEAH! I prefer to call the "sit & stare" sessions "research & development planning".;) Also known to involve "Miller Genuine Draft" or"Clown Royal"depending on who is helping that day.

I even installed a large mirror so that I can sit in one place and look at both sides of the car. The only thing the wife hates more than me spending hours in the garage working on the car is me spending hours staring at it...

Contemplation....... before, during and after a considered piece of work = ART!

Now here's an idea, why don't we all start signing our works of art like any other artist. A painter or sculptor often gives a particular work a name (as do we) then they sign it, (as should we).
Some of the greatest artists never went to Art School, they were apprenticed to a Master.
Many of us are masters and many are apprentices, tradesmen and masters-in-the-making. So I say sign your work, your art. If any mock or gainsay you, ask (them) to prove your dream, your vision your creation isn't ART. Remember, art is in the eye of the beholder, and, are we not beholden to our art?

If this seems a little strange, sorry. I recently lost my younger brother. I am drinking, and dreaming the whisky dreams of our ancestors.
