WOW! Not sure how I missed this post, but I enjoyed sucking up the story over the last hour or so. Amazing history, info and pictures. Personally, I liked the candy red with white tuck and roll.

    Amazing!

Well my fellow Hambers I have an update for you maybe not the one you all were waiting for but I thought Id let you know anyway Mr Roy Delaney has been very sick fighting Lou Garretts Desease and well we lost him yesterday afternoon I am just really grateful I had the opportunity to meet the Awsome craftsman that built my truck 45+ years ago what an awsome experience that was meeting Roy. Him telling me stories about the truck colors he painted it, Shows he won with it ect... Roy was a great guy and will be missed by all who knew him I promised him I would Paint it Candy red with white interior just like it was back in the 60's that was Roy's Favorite version of the truck so ill be getting on this project soon in memory of Roy "King of the Karboys" Delaney.

It is truly wonderful that you were able to reunite him with his masterpiece
in his declining years. How fortunate for you both. Thanks for sharing.

  25. Sorry to hear of his passing. Keep the truck alive...you were one of the lucky few who are able to track down the original builder/owner and reunite him with his car...

Man I got the Phone call from Conrad and it was like a kick in the nuts! To hear that Ol' Roy had passed...Just when things were gonna start rollin along. I told Conrad that it was such a trip...Not finding the truck but finding Roy when we did because he is (was) writing a book about his life and he had written a big part in the book about the truck and the memories he had about it. Then we found him (through the power of the HAMB!) And it was like re-lighting a flame in his heart!....Man i thought Conrad & I were happy to find the owner of the truck but we weren't half as happy as Roy was to even hear that his precious award winning truck was still around after all these years....and was all intact and in good hands awaiting a resto job! Roy and Conrad hooked up on the phone and just like that Roy made plans to come out to Los Angeles and see the truck in person. Roy had let Conrad know of his illness but how seeing the truck and be able to put his hands on it again was priceless to him....What timing! Roy said he was going to add a whole new chapter to the book and ad Conrad to it and how he (Roy) was reunited with his pride and joy! What a way to close out a story of your life!! Right on CONRAD! I can't wait to Finish the truck and hope Conrad will have me as part of his Resto team....I would love to put some sweat into a project like this! Somehow i know Roy will be riding Shotgun with us!
    REST IN PEACE MR. DELANY!!

It would be nice to get the truck finished and display it at the Kustom Hall of Fame for a while....That would be an Honor to Roy... i think. Don't you?
