no progress in about 20 years on any of these...... but it's been fun to check out all the **** i used to build. stovebolts (makes me wonder what i was thinkin') nailheads (was i thinking of the future) piecrust slicks, pinner whites both on steel wheels.....sounds familuar
lots of this stuff was junk that was picked up, my brother and I spend tons of hours rebuilding bodys
old pickup with a nailhead in it....what was i thinking?? Stewed....this is the henry j i told you about....any why you need to give me a ride!
I an a newbie and thought I would drop by and post a couple of my 1/8 scale builds. They are based on the ols Monogram kits. With alot of scratchbuilding. Myself and a friend cast resin flathead engine kits and speed equip. for 1/8 cars. enjoy!
As usual there's some fine looking models being posted. Got to say that Rich's " Thrillbilly" Deluxe ( the pick up), and the Deuce " WEEDBRNR1" fit right in with the scheme of things for this group. Looking forward to seeing more from these two builders in the future. CHEERZZZZ!!!!! rdzimm2001, Louisburg, KS.
no pics, but i've picked back up on models again after a setback with one of my other hobbies (r/c racing) started the final bodywork on my '40 taildragger, made some front fenders out of the spare tire cover from the '36 ford for my replica rpu that i will build a 1:1 hopefully on the same guidelines as the model (less ****py though haha) also started doing some detail work to my heavily modified '32 ch***is on my 26 T sedan, and i'm still debating on wether to stick a hemi in it or a nailhead with either tri-power or a 6x2 log manifold a future project of mine will be to take another '26 T sedan, and turn it into a coupe, then i hope to get it cast in resin to save some modelers the trouble of spending weeks and weeks trying to perfect it also took a revell merc, hardtopped it, and i'm in the middle of adding some trim to it to give it a bit of contrast, it had too little chrome on the sides, it needs more!
PBR, I know you want to get rid of that old junk...box it up and Tyler can bring it to me next time he's out I did find a little time for model stuff this week. Broke out the new Revell Merc kit. There are a lot of things to fix on it, the contours are wrong all over the body especially the hood. The chop is weird. Otherwise it's a great kit and the options are cool. Started by fixing the chop. Added about 1/8" to the A-pillar I reshaped the hood and sides to round it out appropriately. Then I made the skirts flush fit, lengthened and flared them, added side trim, and filled in the tail light holes. Took the lights from the Poncho grill bar and made them into tail lights and blended in the rear of the quarter panel. Thats it for now.
Jeff, all those motors lying around I thought I was looking at Josh's garage. I just threw out 2 boxes of old model stuff (maybe you guys don't want to be hearing this). Unfortunately my brother and I got a little off track in the late 70's and veered away from hot rods into frankenstain experiments. You guys all have more patience than me. Cool stuff. RivRich... holy ****.
A ride is in order!!!!!!! I have an old Henry-J that looks alot like that onr in the attic that my dad built in the early 70's to look just like the one he had just finished, complete with oarnge/yellow/brown **** carpet door panels and seat covers to match!!!! Hard slicks and Cragars all around... Thanks for the flash,, I have to get in the attic for some christmas **** for the old lady, I will have to drag the old model box out and dig around!!!! Hope to see you durring the X-MAS WEEK! STTTTTEWWWWWWEDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got back into modeling (after 30 years away from it) but built mostly drag models. I have decided to set it aside, to work on career goals, but I am going to keep a few projects for the future. Here are some nostalgia diggers.
Hey HotRodPaint I have seen those a few years ago. Nice stuff. I have wanted one of those 62 sedan bodies for a long time. Everytime I got a hold of someone the mold was bad or something like that. lol
Jeff - kick *** motors and Henry J man. You weren't kidding, you were busy man. Some very talented other models as well. Man I wish I had the patience or time anymore. Those 1/8 ones are killer and the drag cars are cool too.
