Well, I had another cpu failure and it took all of my video with it. I suppose this is the last Windows machine I will ever buy. Today I bought myself my first mac. Everything is different but much better. I wish I would have switched years ago. Onward and upward.

    Screw Bill Gates.

Been using Macs since 1992. All I know and I wouldn't switch for nothing. My wife is on her third PC. When it slows to a crawl, she buys another one.

Too bad Bill Gates owns a huge hunk of Apple, 25% IIRC. PCs slowing to a crawl is caused by operator error, too many bad programs, malware, spyware and adware. Easy to take care of 99% of that.

  4. i'm tired of PC's too.........the my next computer will be a Mac

congrats Root... glad to hear it

lmao, you can't be serious that you thing Bill Gates owns 25% of Apple. Microsoft did buy about $100million dollars worth of stock a few years back, but it's even non voting stock and was part of a patent deal. might be closer to but not more than 10% and they can't even vote, they are a long for the ride...

It's different because Steve Jobs (main guy at apple computer) doesn't have nearly as much money as Bill Gates (main guy at Microsoft)

at least that's all I can get out of it.

  13. A few have mentioned liking the Mac better in this thread. Unfounded? Or they just like it better cause that's what they're stuck with?

  15. they both need maintence. I use my mac at work and my pc at home.. you take care of it and it'll work.

    the whole debate is lame.

The only problem that I ever had in the last ten years using a Mac was when a capacitor had fried itself due to a manufacturing defect on a first Gen G5. It was not under warrenty and had no apple care plan either. Took it to Apple and they replaced it free of charge. I gave the G5 to the wife for s****booking and I am currently using a brand new 24" iMac with 2.8 GHz Intel Duo at home and a Intel Power Mac at work. I would rather sell my soul then to use a PC again. The only down side is that when a new one comes out you are like "oh **** how am I going to get rid of this thing to get the new one." It is a sickness.

Macs are easier to keep from getting viruses on than PCs. With a PC, you have to be careful....because most viruses are designed to screw with windows computers. I've never had any trouble myself, but lots of other people do, so in this way macs are better.

Apparently Macs are overpriced, or something is "wrong" with them, because they have a pretty small market share. I don't know for sure why this is, though.

jus readin along here on the wifey's 20" Imac. Started out her talking me into buying a mac, then it was me trying to talk her into the 24". she's a much better negotiator between us (certain hardware advantages). I still fumble around with this thing and cant seem to function without more mouse ****ons, but I'm down with the mac. During business hours, I run a PC, but after hours, I've been known to browse on a mac.

I stand corrected. I'm usually good about urban legends, but I fell for this one. I googled it after you posted, and you're correct - they bought $150M in non-voting stock.

Nice Job! You won't be disappointed! Mac's are super kick***!!!! P.S. Make sure you get the Applecare. It's worth the hundred bucks!

  22. I have had this G4 laptop for 3 years now, it has NEVER caused a moments grief and I have NEVER done anything but haul it everywhere I go and use the hell out of it. No viruses, no crashes, no waiting 5 minutes for it to start up etc, just touch any ****on and it's instantly ready to go. I can't say enough good things. People will ramble on all day about how much better their PC is for the money and blah blah but I PROMISE once you lay out the extra money for a mac you will never, ever be anything but happy that you did.

Yes, there are MAC virus out there, the best protection, know your source, and don't allow anything to install itself with out your permission.

Set up your MAC with Multiple accounts, Having a Master Admin account that gets used for nothing but maint and updates, no surfing or email.

Everyone has their own account, if there is a problem, it only involves THAT USER and the account can be wiped and start over without trashing the whole hardrive ( unlike a PC where EVERYTHING gets eaten in a virus attack)

Yes, there are virus's out there, and they will become more prolific as the user base grows ( because there are some folks who just can't live without causing others grief ! )

I've been a MAC user for 5 years, the rest of my family for 12+, I don't miss a PC at all, save for the fact I have to use one for work purposes ( only because THEY (work) can't see there is something better out there )

Hey my 7 year old Imac still blows away my 1 year old PC in many ways. I have both to cover the kids school work. My Imac keeps going and going and this is my 3rd PC in the same years. (Mother board, powersupply-CDwriter..
Microsoft has come a long way though and a lot of hackers gun for them, to bad.

But ya make mine a MAC :D

There are no known OSX virus. There are OS8 and OS9 virus' though. There are a few issues with malware or trojans where someone wants you to install something that isn't what they say it is. There is a difference. The biggest advantage is the BSD mach kernel. Unix at it's core.

You'll be happy to know that I and my brother are both on the iMac design team and we are both HAMB'rs in good standing. Thank you for your support and I hope you love the iMac.

Yes, it's called the ipod... :p

Ever since Apple went Intel, they are able to shift into 3rd gear. That damned Motorola legacy was strangling them.

So now you get to upload the movie again eh?

  30. Mac all the the way. Pc's are a pain. I would never switch back.
