Model A fords have the frame VIN under the cowl -- hard to see unless you pull the body!! And if the engine isn't the original banger (which had the same number), you can't see the VIN. So... I would like to put a nice VIN plate on the part of the frame you can see or on the cowl, maybe rivet on a nice zinc-coated strip about 1 x 3 inches with reverse-stamped (raised) numbers. Anyone know of a source to order such a thing?
Yup just a number stamped into your frame. You cant even cut an access panel to it. the body sits smack dap on top of it. If one were into it, one could get a firewall plate from Mike's A-Ford-able and stamp you own number into it, and rivet it on yer firewall. Cops are clueless they wont know
when i had my tall T coupe in oregon I had a engraved plate made at sears screwed it in the door jamb and DMV fell for it.........strange but true
Lift the body high enough to read the number and either trace it or have a law enforcement officer eyeball it and get a VIN check. If you used Scotty's "KIT" in Colorado, it could cost you! I know from first hand experience!
