Bought a 1994 Suburban from a guy on Epay. Drove it home and started looking through it. A sparkle caught my eye on the floor under the back seat and I reached in to pull out a 1/4 carat marquis cut diamond ring top that had broken off. The guy had just cleaned it so I dont know how he missed it. Turns out his wife had lost it the year before and they never could find it. I gave it back.

My father had a ford courier pick up that he had driven on the highway from work to home. We kept hearing this meowing sound outside and couldnt figure out where it was coming from. We finally popped the hood on the truck and its meowing constantly so we look around until we remove the aircleaner ontop of the motor and there underneath next to the carb was a kitten about 6 weeks old. You guessed it his name is courier.

I picked up an abandoned car that a crackhead had been living in, for a racecar. While tearing it apart i find lots of change maxipads(unused) make up and about two cases of soda that had exploded on the drivers side during the winter......... When i pull up the carpet almost the entire side of the drivers side floor is gone(on account of the soda) I just threw some tin signs over the holes to pass inspection. There was just enough floor left to hold the seat in. While haulin ass around the track I would just pray that I didn't fall out the bottom, could have been quite painfull

After spending some quality giggle and gag time reading this thread today I thought I’d try and come up with a few oddities I’ve run across over the years.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
My best:

While removing the rear hatch from an early 60’s VW bus in a local yard run by a few very old/strange guys I ran into some major trouble. A friend of mine and I were getting the hatch to replace the rotten one on my 67 bus. The hatch was stuck closed and he was on the outside trying to pop it open. I was sitting inside the bus trying to work the latch loose from inside SUDDENLY the latch popped open and the rear half of the headliner fell (directly above me where I was sitting just inside the hatch). To my horror a nest of 5 to 6 mice were now sitting in my lap. They were equally shocked to see me and quickly hid in the darkest closest place available, up the legs of my jeans! I was out of the bus and stripped from the waste down in seconds. My friend was laughing his head off and the junk yard guys got the biggest thrill they’d had in years. I was just red and glad the mice were off to find a new home away from me.

Other notable discoveries:

Strange photo of previous owners rotten ear under the dash of my 78 VW camper ( he was still alive in the photo, but it looked nasty)

Decomposing bird which landed directly in my hand when removing the heater box from my old 67 GTA Mustang

Porno/nekkid pictures in several cars. Most notably a picture of someone who either owned or was admired by a previous owner of a 65 mustang I got a few parts off of in a local yard (Don’t know why he ever allowed evidence of that to be photographed, think light switch)

Other than that lots of odd tools, sonny and share 8 tracks etc.

I’m sure there have been more but these came to mind while I was reading through everyone else’s post

Nothing wierd...but maybe sad: About 1986 my buddy and I spotted a legal announcement in the paper for a lein sale at the local storage rental place. One line caught our eye: 1957 Chevy. Cool. We go look at the car -- been in storage a looooong time. Lift the hood: dual quads. Inside, a wall of old curved glass SW gauges under the dash.
Holes in floor where roll cage once was, etc. Must have been a former C/Gas car or something. We buy the car ($600!) and proceed to empty it out when we get home. We find the car hasn't been tagged in years and years... and we find documents on how to file for concentious objector status during the war in 'Nam... now what do you supose happened to the guy who owned this gem and let it sit in storage, only to never come back and pay the tab? :-((( Something tells me he didn't go to Canada...

Don't know if I would really call it interesting, but a wrecker company brought a van to the shop one time, with several we bought to scrap. I went out to kind of inventory what the vehicles had, and on the bed, in the back of the van, was two dill pickles, several un packaged rubbers, and a tube of KY. Didn't take me long to shut the door and send it to the crusher.....WTF

when i first got my 60 f-100 home i was laying under the truck poking at the cab corners to see how bad they were and a couple of old hot wheel cars and some mcconalds ketsup packets dated at 1972 fell out. i kept the hot wheels and gave the ketsup to my wife, i though she would be interested because she's a gm for a mcdonalds.
she just called me an idiot and though them away.

I just bought a 51 chevy coupe that sat in a barn or something since the early 80s. when i was cleaning it out i found an old note under the seat that explains how it likes to be started up when its cold and that sometimes it pops out of 3rd gear. I also found about 6 shovelfulls of dirt and golf ball sized rocks on the rear package tray but nowhere else...i couldnt really figure that out..and it gets better, i took off the hood and brought it to my schools metalshop to nose it, i took a rubber mallet and gave a gentle pop to the inner hook brace and a old "hide a key" deal fell out from under it with an extra set of keys!

11. Every once in a while, I find something that makes me feel pretty good about myself. At least I ain't that kind of messed up..

I found a little nug of weed in a car once, and one time I was lying under the dash of a '49 Plymouth, stripping the instrument cluster, I found a family of garden snakes. But nothing like finding pickles.

i bought a mustang convertible from a towing company just for the top and frame.the car hit a divider wall and had been in the yard for a few years.needless to say no keys .when i finally opened the trunk its full of stripper clothes and rule books from the local clubs.lots of empty baggies of unknown powder.guess that explains the front end.

My old man owned a scrap yard and had a car crusher . I worked for him crushing cars first thing I did was pop the trunks with the forklift and found cool shit everyday no guns or big wads of cash though . best find was a 59 fender strat and a tweed amp . There was one guy who brought in cars everyday and he brought in alot of clean fairly late model stuff we wondered how he came across so many cars until one day I was going into town for lunch and on the side of the road was this red and white chevelle with the hood up . Well when I get back to the scrap yard there is the chevelle its about six inches high my old man had crushed it . It was a bigblock 4 speed car I told my dad I just seen that car on the highway 1/2 hour ago . He just nodded . Same guy got busted later for draging a car with no wheels down the interstate on the frame he was bringing it down to my Dad .
On his car crusher Dad had a slot cut in the side of one of the steel box beams and he would always pick up all the change that fell out of the cars where I rolled them over to pop off the gas tanks and pull the wheels and tires he stuffed the change in the slot like a big ass piggy bank . Before he sold the crusher he cut open the box and sold over 10 grand in silver coins . Mom still has buckets full of old pennys and other coins . I have some pictures of the old scrap yard taken from the air and I counted 6 mustangs 4 camaros 7 VW beetles a 57 fairlane a 64 impala and at least one edsel in the pic . They all got mashed . I could be a very rich man if I had just some of the stuff we crushed

I just found under the seat an overdue car payment notice to a couple in Chattanooga, Tenn. From the Chatanooga Federal Savings and Loan Company. It's still legible and has the loan number on it and the couple's name....

A complete set of Wierd Al tapes from the early 80s to middle 90s. A car that came into my buddies scrap yard had the trunk filled with brand new rolls of welding wire. I guess the people scrapping the car wanted it to weigh more. Boy did my buddy get ripped! $50 a ton for new welding wire :) .

I found a nice glass crack pipe in a 69 Firebird I bought a few years ago. That was nice. NOT! I should have known a car from the S.F. ghetto would come with some crap like that! That's the best one I can remember! I always end up with tools and crap like that!
